Sciatic hernia, a rare type of pelvic floor hernia, presents significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. We report the first totally extraperitoneal (TEP) repair of a sciatic hernia, which was performed in a 63-year-old woman who presented with vomiting and poor dietary intake. Computed tomography revealed a strangulated femoral hernia and an incidental herniation of the sigmoid colon through the right sciatic foramen.

This study presents the design, fabrication, and characterization of a wide field-of-view (FOV) metalens optimized for capsule endoscopy. The metalens achieved a 165° FOV with a high modulation transfer function (MTF) of 300 lines per millimeter (lp/mm) across the entire FOV, operating in the near-infrared (NIR) narrow-bandpass imaging at 940 nm. The performance of the metalens-based system is evaluated using two bandwidths, 12 nm and 32 nm, showing MTF values of 0.

Background And Objectives: In the past, microscopic transcranial approach was the mainstay of treatment of trigeminal schwannomas. In recent years, several endoscopic procedures have been reported for trigeminal schwannomas. For trigeminal schwannomas arising around the Meckel cave, we introduced a fully endoscopic procedure with a small temporal craniotomy in June 2020 and have performed radical tumor removal as in the conventional approach.

Colonoscopy, the gold standard for early detection of colorectal cancer, may miss polyps especially those hidden behind folds. This prospective study compared polyp detection and performance of a novel colonoscope with extra-wide field of view (EFOV) of 230 degrees (partially retrograde) to a standard colonoscope (SC, 170 degrees) in a colon model. A 3D printed colon model was used featuring 12 polyps placed throughout different colon segments, with several located on the proximal side of haustral folds.
