Mesoporous amorphous binary Ru-Ti oxides were prepared as bifunctional catalysts for non-aqueous Li-O batteries, and their electrochemical performance was investigated for the first time. A Li-O battery with mesoporous amorphous binary Ru-Ti oxides exhibited a remarkably high capacity of 27100 mAh g as well as a reduced overpotential. A GITT analysis suggested that the introduction of amorphous TiO to amorphous RuO was responsible for the enhanced kinetics toward both the oxygen reduction reaction and oxygen evolution reaction. Excellent cyclic stability up to 230 cycles was achieved, confirming the applicability of the new bifunctional catalyst in non-aqueous Li-O batteries.

Mesoporous bioactive glass (MBG) is an advanced biomaterial widely recognized for its application in bone regenerative engineering. This study synthesized an MBG powder (80 mol% SiO, 5 mol% PO, and 15 mol% CaO) using a facile sol-gel method with the non-ionic surfactant Pluronic P123, which acted as a pore-forming agent. MBGs form bioactive surfaces that facilitate HA formation, and the presence of Pluronic P123 increases the surface area and promotes HA nucleation.

Purpose: Improving drug solubility is crucial in formulating poorly water-soluble drugs, especially for oral administration. The incorporation of drugs into mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN) is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry to improve physical stability and solubility. Therefore, this study aimed to elucidate the mechanism of poorly water-soluble drugs within MSN, as well as evaluate the impact on the dissolution and physical stability.

Article Synopsis
  • Bone defect repair is a significant challenge in orthopedics, with copper being essential for bone regeneration, but its exact role and mechanisms in this process require further investigation.
  • The study introduces copper-doped mesoporous bioactive glass nanoparticles (Cu-MBGNs), emphasizing their ability to enhance osteoblast mitophagy and mitochondrial dynamics, leading to improved calcium phosphate release and biomineralization for faster bone healing.
  • By using conditional knockout mice, researchers confirmed that Cu-MBGNs promote bone formation through the autophagy pathway, strengthen mitophagy, and enhance mitochondrial function, pointing to their potential in developing advanced bioactive materials for orthopedic treatments.

CY1-4, 9-nitropyridine [2',3':4,5] pyrimido [1,2-α] indole -5,11- dione, is an indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO) inhibitor and a poorly water-soluble substance. It is very important to increase the solubility of CY1-4 to improve its bioavailability and therapeutic effect. In this study, the mesoporous silica nano-skeleton carrier material Sylysia was selected as the carrier to load CY1-4, and then the CY1-4 nano-skeleton drug delivery system (MSNM@CY1-4) was prepared by coating the hydrophilic polymer material Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) and the lipid material Distearoylphosphatidyl-ethanolamine-poly(ethylene glycol) (DSPE-PEG) to improve the anti-tumor effect of CY1-4.
