Bifunctional squaramides have emerged as powerful hydrogen-bonding catalysts for promoting a wide array of useful asymmetric reactions, which provides convenient methods for the construction of complex molecular structures and chiral biologically active compounds. This review highlights the recent advances of our research group in the chiral squaramide-catalyzed asymmetric reactions, including Michael addition, Mannich reaction, aza-Henry reaction, Strecker reaction as well as cascade or sequential reactions.

Highly fluorinated naphthyl aldehyde and binaphthyl aldehyde ()- were designed and synthesized for fluorous-phase-based sensing. Greatly enhanced sensitivity and chemoselectivity in going from to ()- in the fluorescent detection of cysteine has been discovered. This is attributed to the increased structural rigidity of the axially chiral binaphthyl unit in ()- upon reaction with cysteine to form the corresponding thiazolidine product.

Electrochemical reduction of CO is an efficient strategy for CO utilization under mild conditions. Tin (Sn) single-atom catalysts (SACs) are promising candidates due to their controllable CO/formate generation via asymmetric coordination engineering. Nevertheless, the factors that govern the selectivity remain unclear.

Ionic liquid (IL) units in heterogeneous catalysts exhibit synergistic effects to enhance catalytic performance and stabilize catalytically active centers, while also preventing the degradation of catalysts during the reaction process. Ionic liquid units in IL-functionalized CMOF catalysts enhance their catalytic performance in a synergistic manner. However, not only are the yields of IL-functionalized CMOFs obtained with post-synthesis methods low, but they also lead to blocking of the MOF pores and leaching of the ionic liquid.

Understanding and controlling the morphology of microgels is crucial for optimizing their properties and functions in diverse areas of application. The fabrication of microgels that exhibit both structural and chemical anisotropy using a template-free approach faces significant challenges. Existing approaches toward such microgels are typically limited to templating methods with low throughput.

We report a case of a woman in her late 40s with a history of breast implant surgery following breast cancer treatment. She presented with asymmetrical breast enlargement, palpable contralateral axillary lymph nodes and cutaneous nodules on both forearms. In addition, imaging evaluation revealed intracapsular implant rupture, ipsilateral internal mammary enlarged lymph nodes and multiple mediastinal lymphadenopathies.
