Background: Undifferentiated pleomorphic sarcoma, previously called malignant fibrous histiocytoma, is a type of malignant mesenchymal tumor (sarcoma) of soft tissue and sometimes bone. It is uncommon in the oral cavity and very sporadic in the maxillary sinus. Microscopic diagnosis of this malignancy in the maxillary sinus can be very challenging, because there is a range of features that may overlap with other benign and malignant tumors.

Benign Fibrous Histiocytoma of Tendon Sheath in the Index Finger of a 70-Year-Old Patient-A Case Report.

Unlabelled: Fibrous histiocytoma (FH) within the finger, particularly involving the flexor tendon sheath, is a rare entity. While cutaneous fibrous histiocytomas have been documented in the fingers, their occurrence around the flexor sheath presents a unique diagnostic challenge, often resembling giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath (GCTTS). We report a case of benign fibrous histiocytoma involving the tendon sheath in the index finger of a 70-year-old patient and discuss its clinical presentation, differential diagnoses, histopathological features, and management.

Keloids are benign fibroproliferative tumours with a high recurrence rate of 20%-100%, therefore, multimodal treatment is recommended. We report the case of an exceptionally large facial keloid precipitated by a vicious cycle of chronic inflammation and mechanical skin traction and discuss the management challenges in a low resource setting. A 67-year-old man presented with a 10-year history of a facial keloid that rapidly enlarged to 2,800 g in 2 years causing difficulties eating, speaking, dressing, head movements and breathing.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates superficial CD34-positive fibroblastic tumors (SCD34FT), a rare low-grade skin neoplasm that often expresses CADM3, in comparison to atypical fibrous histiocytomas (FH).
  • - Out of 40 examined cases of atypical FH, 55% of CD34-positive tumors were reclassified as SCD34FT due to their CADM3 positivity and frequent PRDM10 rearrangement.
  • - The findings suggest that distinguishing between SCD34FT and atypical FH using CADM3 immunohistochemistry is crucial, as many SCD34FT tumors exhibit morphologic features similar to atypical FH.

Article Synopsis
  • Hemosiderotic/aneurysmal variant of dermatofibroma is a rare type of skin tumor that can be misdiagnosed as malignant cancers, such as melanomas or sarcomas.
  • The report details a case of a 7.6cm subcutaneous tumor in a 53-year-old woman, highlighting its unique imaging characteristics and histological features, including the presence of hemosiderin pigment and pseudovascular spaces.
  • Despite the tumor being large and not having clear surgical margins, the patient showed no signs of local recurrence or metastasis after its removal.
