Characteristics of corneal aberration in patients with bilateral keratoconus and unilateral corneal Vogt's striae.

Int J Ophthalmol

December 2024

Shaanxi Eye Hospital, Xi'an People's Hospital (Xi'an Fourth Hospital), Affiliated People's Hospital of Northwest University, Xi'an 710004, Shaanxi Province, China.

Aim: To assess the corneal high-order aberration (HOA) and its correlation with corneal morphological parameters in patients with bilateral keratoconus (KCN) and unilateral Vogt's striae.

Methods: A total of 168 eyes of 84 patients with KCN, whose corneas had definite signs of unilateral Vogt's striae, were enrolled. Corneal HOA and morphological parameters were measured using Pentacam HR.

Background: Endoscopic endonasal techniques, initially developed for sinonasal tumor resection, have revolutionized the approach to orbital lesions. The emergence of endonasal orbital tumor surgery has prompted anatomical studies focusing on the medial orbit, yet there remains a lack of literature on maneuverability lateral to the optic nerve (ON), with current feasibility assessments relying primarily on the plane of resectability (POR).

Methods: Bilateral anatomical dissections were conducted on four latex-injected human cadaveric heads using an endoscopic medial and inferior orbitotomy and superomedial displacement of the inferior rectus muscle (IRM) to access the inferolateral intraconal quadrant.

Influence of gingival margin height variation on perceived aesthetics following absent maxillary lateral incisor-canine substitution.

Eur J Orthod

December 2024

Department of Orthodontics, Centre for Craniofacial Development & Regeneration, Faculty of Dentistry, Oral & Craniofacial Sciences, King's College London, London, SE1 9RT, United Kingdom.

Background: Maxillary lateral incisor agenesis is often managed with orthodontic space closure and canine substitution. Anatomic gingival margin heights associated with the maxillary anterior teeth are considered important for achieving aesthetic excellence with space closure, but evidence relating to the perceptions of lay people is poor.

Objectives: This study investigated the influence of gingival margin height variation in the maxillary anterior teeth following orthodontic space closure and canine substitution in the absence of maxillary lateral incisor teeth on perceived aesthetics judged by a lay population.

Objective: The floor of the third ventricle and the interpeduncular and prepontine regions represent challenging surgical targets. The expanded endoscopic endonasal approach (EEA) with pituitary gland (PG) transposition has been proposed to provide direct access to these anatomical regions. Through the years, different endoscopic PG transposition techniques have been studied and presented.
