Seven different enzymes comprise the galactosyltransferases family, of which β-1,4-galactosyltransferase I (β-1,4-GALT1) is the major contributor to galactosylation activity in cells. Since abnormalities in galactosylation are associated with many pathophysiological conditions, β-1,4-GALT1 is an interesting new target for drug discovery and molecular probe design. There are several known β-1,4-GALT1 inhibitors, but most of them suffer from low cell permeability and thus low in vivo activity.

Fluorescence detection of DNA and RNA G-quadruplexes (G4s) is a very efficient strategy to assess not only the existence and prevalence of cellular G4s but also their relevance as targets for therapeutic interventions. Among the fluorophores used to this end, turn-on probes are the most interesting since their fluorescence is triggered only upon interaction with their G4 targets, which ensures a high sensitivity and selectivity of detection. We reported on a series of twice-as-smart G4 probes, which are both smart G4 ligands (whose structure is reorganized upon interaction with G4s) and smart fluorescent probes (whose fluorescence is turned on upon interaction with G4s).

Carbon dioxide hydrogenation to methanol is a key chemical reaction to store energy in chemical bonds, using carbon dioxide as an energy sink. Indium oxide is amongst the most promising candidates for replacing the copper and zinc oxide catalyst, which is industrially applied for syngas mixtures but less idoneous for educts with carbon dioxide due to instability reasons. The polymorph of indium oxide and the operating conditions remain to be optimized for optimal and stable performance.

Objective: Searching for potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for early diagnosis of gynecological tumors to improve patient survival.
Methods: Microarray datasets of cervical cancer (CC) and ovarian cancer (OC) were downloaded from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, then, differential gene expression between cancerous and normal tissues in the datasets was analyzed. Weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) was performed to screen for co-expression modules associated with CC and OC.
Purpose: A reliable cancer prognosis model for clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) can enhance personalized treatment. We developed a multi-modal ensemble model (MMEM) that integrates pretreatment clinical data, multi-omics data, and histopathology whole slide image (WSI) data to predict overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) for ccRCC patients.
Methods: We analyzed 226 patients from The Cancer Genome Atlas Kidney Renal Clear Cell Carcinoma (TCGA-KIRC) dataset, which includes OS, DFS follow-up data, and five data modalities: clinical data, WSIs, and three multi-omics datasets (mRNA, miRNA, and DNA methylation).
