Polyaniline (PANI) was synthesized exclusively inside the micropores of activated carbon (AC). This nanosized PANI was smaller than 2 nm in diameter and allowed for fast redox reactions, exhibiting superior pseudocapacitance in terms of power and energy densities over the electric double layer capacitance generated inside the micropores.

Background: The 3D printing of macro- and mesoporous biomimetic grafts composed of polycaprolactone (PCL) infused with nanosized synthetic smectic clay is a promising innovation in biomaterials for bone tissue engineering (BTE). The main challenge lies in achieving a uniform distribution of nanoceramics across low to high concentrations within the polymer matrix while preserving mechanical properties and biological performance essential for successful osseointegration.

Methods: This study utilized 3D printing to fabricate PCL scaffolds enriched with nanosized synthetic smectic clay (LAP) to evaluate its effects on structural, chemical, thermal, mechanical, and degradative properties, with a focus on in vitro biological performance and non-toxicity.

Electronic address:

The catalytic degradation of malodorous sulfur-containing volatile organic compounds (S-VOCs), especially methanethiol (CHSH), faces an enormous challenge in striking a balance between activity and stability. Herein, we develop the time-tandem and spatial-extended strategy for synthesizing t-MoO/meso-SiO nano-reactor-type catalysts and reveal the migration and transformation behaviors of both carbon and sulfur species at the mesoscopic scale to break the catalytic CHSH activity and stability trade-off. The dynamic evolution of active centers from initial oxygen sites and acid sites to sulfur vacancies in MoS during the reaction process as well as the formation of a new dimethyl disulfide (CHSSCH) reaction pathway are identified as the main reason for the catalysts' superior activity and sulfur resistance.

Low-Temperature Oxidation of Methane to Methanol on a Zeolitic Octahedral Metal Oxide.

Direct oxidation of methane to methanol utilizing molecular oxygen under mild conditions is an important yet challenging process due to the difficulty in activation of methane under such conditions. In this research, we report zeolitic octahedral metal oxides based on cobalt vanadotungstates, which act as the catalysts for oxidation of methane using molecular oxygen as the oxidant without co-reductants at a low temperature of 90 oC even as low as 60 oC. This catalytic process results in the high-yield production of methanol as the major product.

Poor breathability, inadequate flexibility, bulky wearability, and insufficient gas-adsorption capacity always limit the developments and applications of conventional chemical protective clothing (CPC). To create a lightweight, breathable, and flexible fabric with a high gas-absorption capacity, activated carbon (AC)-loaded poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide) (PMIA) porous composite fibres were fabricated from a mixed wet-spinning process integrated with a solvent-free phase separation process. By manipulating the pore parameters of as-spun composite fibres, the exposure-immobilization of AC particles on the fibre surface can offer a higher gas-absorption capacity and better AC-loading stability.

A Fluorine-Functionalized Tb(III)-Organic Framework for Ba Detection.

Molecules

December 2024

School of Food and Pharmaceutical Engineering, Zhaoqing University, Zhaoqing 526061, China.

The development of lanthanide-organic frameworks (Ln-MOFs) using for luminescence sensing and selective gas adsorption applications is of great significance from an energy and environmental perspective. This study reports the solvothermal synthesis of a fluorine-functionalized 3D microporous Tb-MOF with a face-centered cubic () topology constructed from hexanuclear clusters (TbO) bridged by fdpdc ligands, formulated as {[Tb(fdpdc)(-OH)(HO)]·4DMF} (), (fdpdc = 3-fluorobiphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylate). Complex displays a 3D framework with the channel of 7.
