The persistent symptoms of anxiety, depression, and fatigue that follow severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection and accompany pulmonary inflammation pose significant clinical challenges. However, the correlation between pulmonary inflammation and mental health remains unclear. This study sought to examine the effects of intratracheal injection of lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a bacterial endotoxin, on anxiety-like behaviour in a mouse model suffering with pulmonary inflammation.

Background: The inflammatory response in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI) offers opportunities for stratification and intervention. Previous unselected approaches to immunomodulation in patients with TBI have not improved patient outcomes.
Methods: Serum and plasma samples from two prospective, multi-centre observational studies of patients with TBI were used to discover (Collaborative European NeuroTrauma Effectiveness Research [CENTER-TBI], Europe) and validate (Transforming Research and Clinical Knowledge in Traumatic Brain Injury [TRACK-TBI] Pilot, USA) individual variations in the immune response using a multiplex panel of 30 inflammatory mediators.

The present study was assumed that N‑acetylcysteine (AC) might improve cognitive function in adolescent rats with hypothyroidism through various mechanisms. Sixty adolescent rats were randomly divided into the following groups: Vehicle (received normal saline intraperitoneally (IP)); Propylthiouracil (PTU)‑induced hypothyroidism (0.05%, dissolved in drinking water); Hypothyroid rats were IP treated with different doses of AC (50, 100, and 150 mg/kg/day) for a period of six weeks; Normal rats treated with the highest doses of AC (150 mg/kg/day).

Background: Oxidative stress and inflammation play critical roles in the pathogenesis of many chronic diseases. Dark chocolate (DC)/cocoa, as a rich source of polyphenols like flavonoids, has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that may confer health benefits, but findings in this context are inconsistent.
Objective: This systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the controlled trials (CTs) that have examined the effects of DC/cocoa on oxidative stress and inflammation biomarkers in adults.
