Objective: The finite element method (FEM) was used to evaluate the short-term mechanical stability of trochanteric fractures treated by two types of implants: the Gamma" nail (Howmedica) and the Dynamic Hip Screw, DHS" (Synthes).
Methods: The displacement and stress distributions of bone and implants were computed using a complete 3D FE model.
Results: The main conclusion is that proximal stable femoral fractures can be treated correctly with the Gamma Nail and DHS. For unstable fractures, the Gamma Nail achieves good stabilization but DHS is insufficient and requires a static screw due to the lack of torsional stiffness. Both extramedullary and intramedullary systems were found to distort the load transmission with respect to the anatomic pattern, so they both have biomechanical limitations in the long-term. Background: Although the majority of intertrochanteric femoral fractures in the United States are now treated with cephalomedullary nailing, it remains uncertain whether differences in clinical performance by nail type exist. The purpose of this study was to compare the aseptic revision rates associated with the 3 most commonly utilized cephalomedullary nails in the United States today: the Gamma nail (Stryker), the INTERTAN (Smith+Nephew), and the Trochanteric Fixation Nail/Trochanteric Fixation Nail Advanced (TFN/TFNA; DePuy Synthes).
Methods: Using an integrated health-care system's hip fracture registry, patients ≥60 years of age who were treated with 1 of these 3 commonly used cephalomedullary nail devices were identified.
Objectives: To compare lag-screw slide and revision surgery rate between two generations of the Stryker Gamma cephalomedullary nail (Stryker, Kalamazoo, MI).
Methods: Design: Retrospective chart review.
Setting: Single academic, Level-1 Trauma Center.

Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory disease (ISD) affecting skin, mucosa, nail, and hair. Previous studies demonstrated a pivotal role of type 1 immunity in LP, as infiltrating T cells trigger apoptosis and necroptosis in the epidermis. In this study, we investigated the role of DAPK1 in LP with special focus on its role in mediating cell death and inflammation.

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder characterized by positive, negative, and cognitive symptoms which is treated with antipsychotics. However, these drugs present several side effects and, some schizophrenia symptoms, like cognitive, are difficult to treat. The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors-gamma (PPAR-γ) are expressed in dopaminergic neurons of the midbrain participating in the modulation of dopamine-mediated behavior .

Introduction: The aging population is associated with increased osteoporosis and risk of hip fractures. Cognitive decline has recorded exponential increases in the last decades, with the rise in life expectancy.
Material And Methods: We conducted a prospective study on 65 patients over 65 years old associated with dementia and hip fractures.
