Little is known about the inflammatory response of the endometrium in repeat-breeding cows with subclinical endometritis (SE). The objective of this study was to evaluate the mRNA expression of prostaglandin-endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS 2), prostaglandin F2 synthase (PTGFS) and prostaglandin E2 microsomal synthase 1 (mPTGES 1) in the endometrium of repeat-breeding cows with and without SE. SE was diagnosed cytologically using the cytobrush method, with the threshold being set at 5% polymorphonuclear neutrophils. Biopsy samples were obtained from the endometrium of repeat-breeding cows with SE (n = 10) and without SE (n = 10). The mRNA expression of the synthases was evaluated using qRT-PCR. Significantly higher (P < 0.05) expression of the PTGS 2 gene was detected in the repeat breeders with SE, whereas there was no significant difference in the expression of PTGFS and mPTGES 1 mRNAs between repeatbreeding cows with SE and those without it (P > 0.05). Our study confirms that increased endometrial expression of the PTGS 2 gene is involved in the inflammatory response in repeat breeders.

Coxiellosis in animals is caused by the zoonotic pathogen, Coxiella burnetii. Although the disease is of public health importance it remains underdiagnosed and underreported. The cross- sectional study was aimed to estimate the occurrence of the disease in livestock of study area and also to identify the risk factors associated with the disease in animals.

Article Synopsis
  • The study focused on the breeding practices and production systems of Begaria cattle in three kebeles—Almahal, Fanguso, and Mankush—to support community conservation efforts.
  • Data collected through questionnaires and discussions revealed that farmers kept the cattle primarily for milk, cash, and meat, facing challenges such as feed and water shortages during summer and reproductive issues like abortion and calf mortality.
  • Key findings included average metrics for first calving age (41.5 months), calving interval (16 months), and daily milk yield (3.2 liters), leading to a recommendation for a multi-trait selection program involving all stakeholders.

Background And Aim: Brucellosis is an infectious disease caused by species. This study aimed to identify the risk factors associated with bovine brucellosis seropositivity in organized dairy farms to control the disease in unvaccinated adult bovine herds in Karnataka, India.

Materials And Methods: In total, 3610 samples (3221 cattle and 389 buffaloes) were subjected to parallel testing using the Rose Bengal plate test and protein G-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, followed by analyses of animal- and farm-level epidemiological datasets to identify the risk factors.

Use of platelet lysate for in-vitro embryo production and treatment of repeat breeding in cows.

Theriogenology

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a biological hemocomponent derived from blood after the complete removal of red blood cells and the partial or complete removal of white blood cells to concentrate platelets in an appropriate volume of plasma. Platelets have important growth factors, cytokines, and active metabolites that improve the endometrial environment and positively affect implantation. This study evaluated the effect of the addition of activated PRP (platelets lysate; PL) on in vitro bovine oocyte maturation and embryonic development and the effect of intrauterine (IU) infusion of autologous PL in repeat breeder (RB) cows.
