A number of base metal and low gold-content alloys were evaluated in hamster cheek pouches for biocompatibility. No adverse weight changes and no abnormal behavioral patterns were noted in any of the test groups over the 14-day period of the study. Gross examination of the cheek pouches containing the alloys was no different from that of the controls. None of the alloys tested showed significant adverse histopathologic reactions. The recorded changes in incidences and degree of response were essentially no different from those of the negative control material.

Severe oral mucositis is a major cause of a low quality of life in patients; however, the therapeutic effect of traditional treatments is insufficient. Therefore, we designed a carbopol gel based on rebamipide nanocrystals (REB NCs) and gum arabic (GA-REB@NP), and investigated its efficacy in accelerating wound healing in a hamster model of oral mucositis. REB NCs were prepared by bead milling, and GA- REB@NP were prepared by incorporating REB NCs into a carbopol gel.

Recurrent aphthous stomatitis leads to ulcers that cause severe pain, which is a substantial burden on patients. Equisetum arvense extract (EA) is a crude drug that promotes wound healing of mucous membranes caused by perineal incision during childbirth and alleviates pain. Here, we elucidated the effects of EA on wound healing and pain in a stomatitis hamster model.

Background: Boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) is a tumor-selective particle radiotherapy that combines preferential boron accumulation in tumors and neutron irradiation. Based on previous studies in tumor-bearing mice, this study evaluated the biodistribution of the sodium salt of cobaltabis(dicarbollide) (Na[3,3'-Co(CBH)], abbreviated as Na[-COSAN]) in the hamster cheek pouch oral cancer model and the Na[-COSAN]/BNCT therapeutic effect on tumors and induced radiotoxicity. The synthesis and comprehensive characterization of B-enriched trimethylammonium salt of -[7,8-CBH]-carborane, along with the cesium and sodium salts of [-COSAN] cobaltabis(dicarbollide) are reported here for the first time.

Background: The evolution of lower blepharoplasty has shifted from simply removing of orbital septum fat to smoothing of the lid-cheek junction through fat repositioning. This paper adopts a novel technique to transpose and stabilize intraorbital fat during transconjunctival lower blepharoplasty. The tear trough and nasal alar base were filled to correct the pouch while ensuring the blood supply of the fat flap.
