AI Article Synopsis

  • A new easy chemical method has been created to make SbS films with large grains, reaching sizes of about 12 μm.
  • A solar cell using this SbS film has achieved a power conversion efficiency of 4.3%.
  • This efficiency rate is the highest recorded for solution-processed planar heterojunction solar cells made with SbS film.

Article Abstract

A facile chemical method is developed for the fabrication of SbS film with a lateral grain size as large as ∼12 μm. A solar cell based on this SbS film achieves a power conversion efficiency of 4.3%, which is the highest value in solution processed planar heterojunction solar cells based on SbS film.

Article Synopsis
  • Phase-pure crystalline chalcostibite (CuSbS) thin films were created using thermal evaporation, followed by sulfurization at temperatures of 400°C and 430°C for various durations, leading to different phase formations.
  • At 400°C for 10-60 minutes, the films showed a dominant orthorhombic CuSbS phase with a minor SbS phase, while extending the time to 90 minutes created additional famatinite phases.
  • Sulfurization at 430°C for over 30 minutes resulted in phase-pure CuSbS films with promising characteristics for solar cells, achieving a peak efficiency of 2.2% with optimal performance at 60 minutes.

Stretchable organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) are a key component of stretchable electronics. Inkjet printing is a potential processing method for stretchable and flexible OLEDs. However, improving the uniformity and stretchability of the emission layer (EML) prepared by inkjet printing is challenging.

The objective of this study is to recognize and characterize the nanoscale phase modulus mapping of the asphalt film in pavement mixture cores using atomic force microscopy quantitative nanomechanical technology. The pavement core samples from the upper and middle layers of four highways and laboratory samples were taken as the research object. The phase modulus-macro property correlation of recovered asphalt was analyzed using mathematical statistics.

Antimony trisulfide (SbS) is an emerging semiconductor with a high absorption coefficient and a bandgap in the visible range. This makes it a promising material for various electronic and optoelectronic applications. However, one of the main challenges is still the synthesis of the material, as it is usually obtained either as a nanomaterial in its amorphous form with inferior optical properties or in crystalline rod-like structures in the micrometer or sub-micrometer range, which leads to application-related difficulties such as clogging in inkjet printing or spraying processes or highly porous layers in film applications.
