In 2009, the container ship Colombo Queen and the oil tanker W-O BUDMO grounded off Jialeshui and Houwan, respectively, in southern Taiwan. Water quality was monitored at each site to evaluate the environmental impact caused by the resulting oil spills. The results show that the PAHs, turbidity, and other nutrients increased shortly after oil spill, however levels of these parameters eventually returned to baseline levels. On the other hand, DO saturation, pH and chl. a decreased initially, reached maxima after 10days, and returned to the baseline levels after 14days. The chl. a concentration, pH and DO saturation fluctuated in a similar pattern at both sites during the oil spills, likely driven by algal blooms. In this study, we documented a full environmental recovery at coastal areas before, during and after the oil spills.

Carbon neutrality has gained considerable attention globally, and the impact of environmental policy on businesses has been extensively studied. However, the mechanism through which environmental policy affects production efficiency within the enterprise remains unclear. The objectives of this paper are: 1.

Thermoelectric technology enables the direct and reversible conversion of heat into electrical energy without air pollution. Herein, the stability, electronic structure, and thermoelectric properties of methoxy-functionalized MC(OMe) (M = Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, Hf, Ta, and W) were systematically investigated using first-principles calculations and semiclassical Boltzmann transport theory. All MXenes, except those with M = Cr, Mo, and W, can be synthesized by substituting Cl- and Br-functionalized MXenes with deprotonated methanol, with stability governed by the M-O bond strength.

Pollution monitoring in surface water using field observational procedure is a challenging matter as it is time consuming, and needs a lot of efforts. This study addresses the challenge of efficiently monitoring and predicting water pollution using a GIS-based artificial neural network (ANN) to detect heavy metal (HM) pollution in surface water and effect of wastewater required discharge on the Euphrates River in Al-Diwaniyah City, Iraq. The study established using 40 water sampling stations and incorporates Inductively Coupled Plasma Atomic Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) to assess HM levels.

The same cumulative carbon emission reduction target can correspond to multiple emission reduction pathways. This study explores how different coal power transition pathways with the same cumulative emissions reductions impact the transition costs, by assessing the dynamic transition processes for coal plants adopting multiple mitigation technologies concurrently or sequentially, such as flexibility operation, biomass and coal co-firing, carbon capture and storage, and compulsory retirement. We develop a plant-level dynamic optimization model and apply it to China's 4200+ coal plants.

Photocatalytic technology has emerged as a promising solution to global water contamination, mainly through the effective degradation of persistent pharmaceutical pollutants. However, a few challenges still exist in enhancing degradation efficiency, reducing the toxicity of by-products, and ensuring cost-effective scalability. This study focuses on Tetracycline Hydrochloride (TCH) as an index antibiotic pollutant to evaluate the performance of a novel MXene-derived TiO-supported SiO₂/ TiC composite (SMXT) synthesised using ultrasonic and wet impregnation techniques.
