A synthetic method to prepare partially hydrogenated isoquinolines efficiently from silver-mediated [3,3]-sigmatropic rearrangement/Diels-Alder reaction of 1,9-dien-4-yne esters is described. The reactions were shown to be robust with a wide variety of substitution patterns tolerated to provide the corresponding nitrogen-containing heterocyclic products in good to excellent yields. This includes examples containing a bridgehead sp quaternary carbon center as well as the cycloisomerization of one substrate to give the corresponding bicyclic adduct in excellent yield at the gram scale.

Evaluation of anion exchange resin for sorption of selenium (IV) from aqueous solutions.

BMC Chem

January 2025

Nuclear Chemistry Department, Hot Laboratories Center, Egyptian Atomic Energy Authority, P.O. 13759, Cairo, Egypt.

In this work, selenium (IV) ions were adsorbed from aqueous solutions by the strongly basic anion exchange resin Amberlite IRA-400. The morphology of the resin before and after Se(IV) sorption was investigated using different techniques such as energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). To determine the ideal sorption conditions, a batch approach was used to examine the variables affecting Se(IV) sorption performance, including pH, shaking time, adsorbent dosage, initial metal ion concentration, and temperature.

Batch and semi-continuous fermentation with Parageobacillus thermoglucosidasius DSM 6285 for H production.

Background: Parageobacillus thermoglucosidasius is a facultatively anaerobic thermophile that is able to produce hydrogen (H) gas from the oxidation of carbon monoxide through the water-gas shift reaction when grown under anaerobic conditions. The water-gas shift (WGS) reaction is driven by a carbon monoxide dehydrogenase-hydrogenase enzyme complex. Previous experiments exploring hydrogenogenesis with P.

Background: Steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SIONFH) is a universal hip articular disease and is very hard to perceive at an early stage. The understanding of the pathogenesis of SIONFH is still limited, and the identification of efficient diagnostic biomarkers is insufficient. This research aims to recognize and validate the latent exosome-related molecular signature in SIONFH diagnosis by employing bioinformatics to investigate exosome-related mechanisms in SIONFH.

Background: Cytokeratins are intracellular proteins known as diagnostic biomarkers or prognostic factors for certain cancers. Cytokeratin 19 (CK-19) expression has been proven to have prognostic value for some cancers, but its relationship with others, such as prostate cancer (PCa), remains unclear. This systematic review article aimed to examine the relationship between CK-19 expression and prostate adenocarcinoma (PAC).

N6-adenosine methylation (m6A) of RNA is involved in the regulation of various diseases. However, its role in chemotherapy-related vascular endothelial injury has not yet been elucidated. We found that methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3) expression was significantly reduced during doxorubicin (DOX)-induced apoptosis of vascular endothelial cells both in vivo and in vitro, and that silencing of METTL3 further intensified this process.
