In this paper we report a newly developed technique - laser calorimetry spectroscopy (LCS), which is a combination of laser absorption spectroscopy and calorimetry - for the detection of gases dissolved in liquids. The technique involves determination of concentration of a dissolved gas by irradiating the liquid with light of a wavelength where the gas absorbs, and measuring the temperature change caused by the absorbance. Conventionally, detection of dissolved gases with sufficient sensitivity and specificity was done by first extracting the gases from the liquid and then analyzing the gases using techniques such as gas chromatography. Using LCS, we have been able to detect ppm levels of dissolved gases without extracting them from the liquid. In this paper, we show the detection of dissolved acetylene in transformer oil in the mid infrared (MIR) wavelength (3021 nm) region.

Objectives: This study focuses on both the formulation of bio-based microspheres containing fampridine for the treatment of multiple sclerosis and provides an alternative to the commercially available product (Fampyra 10 mg, Biogen).
Materials And Methods: The encapsulation of fampridine was achieved using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and sodium alginate (Na-Alg) polymers. Glutaraldehyde (GA) and hydrochloric acid (HCI) were used as crosslinking agents.

In this article, we present a unique system for identifying edible oils through the analysis of their thermophysical properties. The method is based on the use of active infrared thermography. The heating of the oils results from the optical absorption of laser radiation at a specified wavelength.

Naphthalene is a fungicide that can also be a phase-change agent owing to its high crystallization enthalpy at about 80 °C. The relatively rapid evaporation of naphthalene as a fungicide and its shape instability after melting are problems solved in this work by its placement into a cured epoxy matrix. The work's research materials included diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A as an epoxy resin, 4,4'-diaminodiphenyl sulfone as its hardener, and naphthalene as a phase-change agent or a fungicide.

This study investigated the interaction between yam starch (YS) and soy protein isolate hydrolysate (SPH), and their effects on in vitro digestibility of starch through extrusion treatment. Results indicated that SPH with 6 % hydrolysis degree had the lowest relative molecular mass. X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopy revealed an increase in the relative crystallinity of extruded yam starch (EYS) from 17.

The aim of this study was to comprehensively characterize paliperidone palmitate (PP) long-acting suspension (Invega Sustenna®) through reverse engineering. We developed a series of analytical methods to assess critical quality attributes of four batches of Invega Sustenna®. The size distributions of the four batches of suspensions were measured using laser diffraction, and variations in the D50 and D90 parameters were observed.
