A radical-mediated approach has been introduced for the C-S bond activation of arylalkenyl sulfides. The protocol provides an efficient approach for the generation of various alkenes including alkenyl silanes, sulfones, phosphine oxides, and nitroolefins. In most cases, these radical substitutions are performed under metal-free conditions with stereospecificity.

A visible-light-induced synthesis protocol for silylmonofluoroalkanes is described. The silylation of alkenyl fluorides using (trimethylsilyl)silanes as organosilicon reagents proceeds well under mild conditions via a sequential photoinduced single-electron transfer and protonation process. The protocol shows a broad substrate scope, transition-metal-free conditions, and high functional group tolerance.

Sadphos as Adaptive Ligands in Asymmetric Palladium Catalysis.

Department of Chemistry, Fudan University, 2005 Songhu Road, Shanghai, 200433, China.

ConspectusPalladium catalysis, as one of the most important strategies in asymmetric synthesis, has continuously attracted the attention of organic chemists. With the development of chiral ligands, increasingly challenging reactions and substantial progress in asymmetric catalysis are being realized.Since 2014, we have focused on exploiting a series of sulfinamide phosphine ligands called "Sadphos," including Ming-Phos, Xu-Phos, Xiao-Phos, Xiang-Phos, TY-Phos, PC-Phos, GF-Phos, and WJ-Phos.

Radical trifluoromethoxylation is an attractive approach to prepare compounds featuring the important OCF group, however most existing methods have focused on aromatic substrates. Here, we report novel methodologies with alkenyl substrates employing bis(trifluoromethyl)peroxide (BTMP) as a practical and comparatively atom economical trifluoromethoxylating reagent. With silyl enol ether substrates, switching reaction solvent allows for the synthesis of either α-(trifluoromethoxy)ketone products or unprecedented alkenyl-OCF species.

An electroreductive cross-coupling of prop-2-yn-1-yl acetates with chloro(vinyl)silanes for producing tetrasubstituted silylallenes is developed. The method enables the formation of a new C─Si bond through the cathodic reduction formation of the silyl radical, radical addition across the C≡C bond, the alkenyl anion intermediate formation, and deacetoxylation and represents a mild, practical route to the synthesis of silylallenes. Mechanistic studies reveal that CoCl acts as the mediator to promote the formation of the alkenyl anion intermediate via electron transfer.

New Janus Tricyclic Laddersiloxanes: Synthesis, Characterization, and Reactivity.

Molecules

July 2023

Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Gunma University, 1-5-1 Tenjin-cho, Kiryu 376-8515, Japan.

The synthesis of four novel -type tricyclic laddersiloxanes bearing eight or six alkenyl groups is presented. These compounds possess reactive alkenyl groups on both the bridged and side silicon atoms, and their structures were determined through characterization using multinuclear 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis techniques. To investigate their reactivity, the compounds were subjected to hydrosilylation using two different silanes, and the resulting fully hydrosilylated compounds were thoroughly analyzed.
