Article Abstract

We used the aerodynamic levitation technique combined with CO laser heating to study the structure of liquid yttrium aluminates above their melting point with neutron diffraction. For various yttria contents, we determined the structure factors and corresponding pair correlation functions describing the short-range order in the liquids. In particular, we derived Al-O and Y-O bond distances and coordination numbers. Experimental data are compared with ab initio molecular dynamics, carried out using the VASP code where the interatomic forces are obtained from density functional theory. In particular, partial pair correlation functions have been calculated and are in relatively good agreement with the experimental observations.

Spinels are known for their enhanced photocatalytic activity which demonstrates as one of the promising solutions for the conversion of harmful organic dyes into simpler, less harmful molecules like CO and HO. In this study, spinel nickel aluminate, copper-doped nickel aluminate, and yttrium, copper co-doped nickel aluminate were synthesized using the sol-gel process with citric acid as a capping agent. The synthesized compounds were characterized by various techniques, including XRD, UV-DRS, XPS, and SEM-EDAX, and tested for their photocatalytic activity against the crystal violet dye under UV light.

This research presents a thorough examination of the optical properties and performance enhancement strategies of synthesized phosphors, namely, yttrium aluminum garnet doped with cerium (YAG:Ce), sodium calcium silicate with samarium (NCS:Sm), and calcium aluminate oxide doped with manganese (CAO:Mn). The study delves into the synthesis processes of the phosphors, illumination of the crystal structures, and enhancement of luminescent characteristics. Additionally, the paper extends to the synthesis and analysis of {[Cu(μ-dmg)(im)]·3HO} (PKY159), and the coordination polymer (CP) was added the phosphors to explore a novel approach for enhanced optical performance.

In this work, trivalent Yttrium doped calcium aluminate (CaAlO:x% Y) were synthesized for the first time. Through Photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy and Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE), CaAlO:0.1 % Y has demonstrated to be a potential high emitting phosphor material amongst other high concentration Y doped samples, emitting a vibrant blue - pink hue where others are emitting a transiting hue from blue to green within a white vertex region.
