Background: The American Academy of Dermatology recommends dermatologists understand the costs of dermatologic care.

Objective: This study sought to measure dermatology providers' understanding of the cost of dermatologic care and how those costs are communicated to patients. We also aimed to understand the perspectives of patients and dermatological trainees on how cost information enters into the care they receive or provide.

Methods: Surveys were systematically developed and distributed to 3 study populations: dermatology providers, residents, and patients.

Results: Response rates were over 95% in all 3 populations. Dermatology providers and residents consistently underestimated the costs of commonly recommended dermatologic medications but accurately predicted the cost of common dermatologic procedures. Dermatology patients preferred to know the cost of procedures and medications, even when covered by insurance. In this population, the costs of dermatologic medications frequently interfered with patients' ability to properly adhere to prescribed regimens.

Limitations: The surveyed population was limited to the northwestern United States and findings may not be generalizable. Cost estimations were based on average reimbursement rates, which vary by insurer.

Conclusion: Improving dermatology providers' awareness and communication of the costs of dermatologic care might enhance medical decision-making, improve adherence and outcomes, and potentially reduce overall health care expenditures.

Objectives: Physical function in RA is largely influenced by multiple clinical factors, however, there is a growing body of evidence that psychological state and other comorbidities also play an essential role. Using data obtained in the COVID-19 Vaccination in Autoimmune Diseases study, an international self-reported e-survey, we aimed to explore the predictive ability of sociodemographic and clinical variables on Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System Physical Function Short Form 10a (PROMIS PF-10a) in RA and to investigate variation in disease activity and functional outcomes based on country-level socio-economic parameters.

Methods: Patient demographics, disease characteristics including current symptom status, functional status and treatment variables, as well as income level of the country of residence, were extracted from survey responses.

Folliculitis decalvans (FD) is a chronic inflammatory alopecia characterized by painful, scarring lesions and recurrent flares, often complicated by secondary bacterial infections. Despite the use of topical and systemic anti-inflammatory or antimicrobial therapies, FD remains challenging to manage, with limited therapeutic advancements. We report a case of recalcitrant FD in a man in his 40s who experienced significant symptom improvement and hair regrowth following the initiation of tirzepatide for weight management.

Background: Alopecia is globally known as a distressing medical disorder that affects men and women, and current commercially available minoxidil solutions are formulated with irritant vehicles with frequent complaints of dermatologic adverse effects.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate further the compatibility of ready-to-use vehicles for the preparation of tailored formulations for alopecia treatment, namely TrichoSol™ (a ready-to-use vehicle for personalized hair solutions) and TrichoFoam™ (a ready-to-use vehicle for personalized foam formulations), in combination with minoxidil and other active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs), to establish adequate beyond-use dates (BUD) for the given formulations.

Methods: Products under evaluation were compounded using TrichoSol™ or TrichoFoam™, with direct incorporation of the APIs into these vehicles.

Pyroptosis, a recently identified cellular demise regulated by gasdermin family proteins, is emerging as a promising avenue in cancer immunotherapy. However, the realm of light-controlled pyroptosis in cancer cells remains largely unexplored. In this study, we took a deliberate approach devoid of any chemical alterations to develop a novel photosensitizer called "pharmaceutical-dots (pharm-dots)" by combining nonemissive polymers (Poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid), PLGA) with nonfluorescent invisible molecules like curcumin, berberine, oridonin into PLGA nanoparticles (PLGA-NPs).

Multi-pathway oxidative stress amplification via controllably targeted nanomaterials for photoimmunotherapy of tumors.

Photoimmunotherapy, which combines phototherapy with immunotherapy, exhibits significantly improved therapeutic effects compared with mono-treatment regimens. However, its use is associated with drawbacks, such as insufficient reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and uneven photosensitizer distribution. To address these issues, we developed a controllable, targeted nanosystem that enhances oxidative stress through multiple pathways, achieving synergistic photothermal, photodynamic, and immunotherapy effects for tumor treatment.
