This research identifies favorable areas for goat production systems in the state of Veracruz, Mexico. Through the use of the analytic hierarchy process, layers of biophysical and soil information were combined to generate a model of favorability. Model validation was performed by calculating the area under the curve, the true skill statistic, and a qualitative comparison with census records. The results showed the existence of regions with high (4494.3 km) and moderate (2985.8 km) favorability, and these areas correspond to 6.25 and 4.15%, respectively, of the state territory and are located in the regions of Sierra de Huayacocotla, Perote, and Orizaba. These regions are characterized as mountainous and having predominantly temperate-wet or cold climates, and having montane mesophilic forests, containing pine, fir, and desert scrub. The reliability of the distribution model was supported by the area under the curve value (0.96), the true skill statistic (0.86), and consistency with census records.

Introduction: Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD) represents the most common cause of dry eye disease (DED). Traditional treatments mainly rely on heating and liquifying the meibum to favor its expression. However, recent knowledge advances have led to the development of novel therapies specifically designed for patients with MGD.

Background: Smoking rates in the UK have declined steadily over the past decades, masking considerable inequalities, as little change has been observed among people with a mental health condition. This trial sought to assess the feasibility and acceptability of supplying an electronic cigarette (e-cigarette) starter kit for smoking cessation as an adjunct to usual care for smoking cessation, to smokers with a mental health condition treated in the community, to inform a future effectiveness trial.
Methods: This randomised controlled feasibility trial, conducted March-December 2022, compared the intervention (e-cigarette starter kit with a corresponding information leaflet and demonstration with Very Brief Advice) with a 'usual care' control at 1-month follow-up.

Objectives: Diabetes distress can negatively affect the well-being of individuals with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Voice-based (VB) technology can be used to develop inexpensive and ecological tools for managing diabetes distress. This study explored the competencies to engage with digital health services, needs and preferences of individuals with T1D or caring for a child with this condition regarding VB technology to inform the tailoring of a co-designed tool for supporting diabetes distress management.

Background: In recent years, with the rapid development of machine learning (ML), it has gained widespread attention from researchers in clinical practice. ML models appear to demonstrate promising accuracy in the diagnosis of complex diseases, as well as in predicting disease progression and prognosis. Some studies have applied it to ophthalmology, primarily for the diagnosis of pathologic myopia and high myopia-associated glaucoma, as well as for predicting the progression of high myopia.

During the process of developing smart chiroptical luminophores, small chiral organic dyes have emerged as candidates of utmost importance. In this regard, the chiral variants of boron dipyrromethene (BODIPY) serve as suitable molecules owing to their excellent photophysical properties such as high fluorescence quantum yields, narrow emission bandwidths with high peak intensities, high photo and chemical stability, and higher molar extinction coefficients. Thus, the last decade observed an influx of research from various research groups for the induction of chirality in originally achiral BODIPY.
