Parenteral nutrition is a high-risk therapy due to some of its components and the exceptional inclusion of drugs. It can contain more than 50 nutrients, with different characteristics of osmolarity, ionic charge, and pH, which can affect its physicochemical stability. In addition, environmental conditions such as light, temperature, and oxygen must be considered.

The routine use of preoperative group and save (G&S) blood tests in emergency laparoscopic appendicectomies has been a standard yet often unquestioned practice. However, with the advancements in laparoscopic techniques and the low risk of intraoperative bleeding, is this precaution necessary? Analysing 276 emergency appendicectomy cases over a year, our study revealed that no transfusions were required due to surgical complications. Nevertheless, routine G&S testing causes considerable financial and resource strains, consuming valuable time and delaying treatment.

Background: Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is non-cancerous growth of the prostate gland which surrounds the urethra. For men with BPH who are older than 50, a prostatectomy is a common surgical procedure. Open prostatectomy is still more prevalent in regions with limited access to advanced surgical procedures like transurethral resection of the prostate and robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy.

Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS syndrome) is a rare and potentially life-threatening condition. Symptoms typically manifest two to eight weeks after exposure to an offending agent, such as anticonvulsants and antibiotics. Clinical features include fever, morbilliform rash, eosinophilia, lymphadenopathy, and, in severe cases, multiorgan dysfunction, including interstitial nephritis, hepatitis, and pneumonitis.
