Urinary tract infection is a common infection associated with considerable societal cost and even increasing antibiotic resistance, which to some extent represents a challenging issue facing infection control. In this work, some group A Beta-lactamase genes blaTEM, bla SHV, bla CTX-M-1, bla CTX-M-2, bla CTX-M-9, bla CTX-M-25 among Uropathogenic Escherichia coli from women with cystitis have been detected. The results showed that 100 isolates of 611 urine samples belonged to Escherichia coli.

Background: Resistance to different antimicrobial classes by Salmonella species has generated a global public health concern. The spread of extended-spectrum β-lactamases (ESBLs) bla gene variants is also increasing. This study aimed to investigate the antibiotic resistance and the carriage of bla and bla as well as the quinolone resistance gene (qnrB19) among Salmonella species from hospitalised patients in Lagos, Nigeria.

Background And Objectives: Increasing the rate of extended-spectrum β-lactamase (ESBL)-producing has given rise to a major healthcare issue in clinical settings over the past few years. Treatment of these strains is hardly effective since the plasmid encoding ESBL may also carry other resistance genes including aminoglycosides. The current study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of ESBL-producing and investigate the coexistence of Cefoxitamase-Munich ( ) with aminoglycoside-modifying enzyme (AME) genes, as well as , in CTX-M-producing isolated from patients in Bushehr province, Iran.

Objectives: The objective of the current study was to find prevalence of relevant ESBL and carbapenemase producing genes in nosocomial and isolates and to check phenotypic susceptibility of all ESBL positive isolates to carbapenems.
Methods: Forty ESBL producing clinical isolates of (n=33) and (n=7) were examined for the presence of β-lactamase genes (CTX-M, CTX-M-1, 2, 3, 4 and TEM). Carbapenem resistance was checked phenotypically and by presence of gene.

Carbapenemase-producing (CRKP) are increasingly reported worldwide being necessary the local epidemiological monitoring. Our aim was to characterize the hypermucoviscous CRKP isolates collected in our hospital during a 6 months period. Carriage of the carbapenemase genes ( , , and ), extended spectrum β-lactamases ( , ) and the virulence genes (A, k2A, A, G, , S, B, M, , G, H, D, A, N, and -1) were determined by multiplex-PCR.
