Background: The single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs2072408 is located in an intron of the enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) gene. Its role in gastric cancer (GC) has not been determined.

Methods: In the present study, the genotype of (EZH2) rs2072408 and the relationship of genotype with lymph node metastasis (LNM) and the invasive depth of gastric wall (T stage) was determined in 330 patients with GC, and the association between the genotype and recurrence and survival was determined in 253 patients with GC.

Results: The TT genotype was identified to be significantly associated with LNM [P = 0.013; odds ratio (OR), 6.49 (95% confidence interval (CI), 1.47 - 28.59)] and T stage [T1 + T2 vs. T3 + T4, p = 0.017, OR, 3.02 (95% CI, 1.22 - 7.44)]. The overall rates of LNM and T3 + T4 stage in the present study were 70.6% and 60.6%, respectively, the rates increased 23.8% and 20.0% in patients with the TT genotype.

Conclusions: These results suggest that the TT genotype of EZH2 (rs2072408) was associated with LNM and the depth of gastric wall invasion in patients with GC.

Metabolism is the name given to all of the chemical reactions in the cell involving thousands of proteins, including enzymes, receptors, and transporters. Inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) are caused by defects in the production and breakdown of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates. Micro ribonucleic acids (miRNAs) are short non-coding RNA molecules, ⁓19-25 nucleotides long, hairpin-shaped, produced from DNA.

The study found a significant causal relationship between coffee intake and obsessive-compulsive disorder, showing a negative correlation. There was no causal relationship between coffee intake and other mental disorders. The sensitivity analysis test found no pleiotropy affecting the results, and no single nucleotide polymorphism had a major impact on the robustness of the results, indicating that the results are stable and reliable.

Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Contemporary Anthropology, Department of Anthropology and Human Genetics, School of Life Sciences, Fudan University, Shanghai, China.

dna2bit is an ultra-fast software specifically engineered for microbial genome analysis, particularly adept at calculating genome distances within metagenome and single amplified genome datasets. Distinguished from existing software such as Mash and Dashing, dna2bit employs feature hashing technique and Hamming distance to achieve enhanced speed and memory utilization, without sacrifice in the accuracy of average nucleotide identity calculations. dna2bit has promising applications in various domains such as average nucleotide identity approximation, metagenomic sequence clustering, and homology querying.

Background: The study aimed to detect the association between insulin-like growth factor 2 mRNA-binding protein 2 (IGF2BP2) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) polymorphisms among type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Materials And Methods: This study involved 500 individuals; 250 obese DM cases and 250 healthy controls. The polymerase chain reaction restriction fragment length polymorphism was used to identify the genotype of the IGF2BP2 gene for the small nucleoproteins rs4402960 (G>T) and small nucleoproteins rs800795 (G>C).

Taurine and betaine are important nutrients in and have many important biological properties. To investigate the characteristics of taurine and betaine contents and identify SNPs associated with traits in the , we cloned the full-length cDNA of key genes in taurine and betaine (unpublished data) metabolism, determined taurine and betaine content and gene expression in different tissues and months of specimen collection, and developed SNPs in the gene coding region. We cloned the full-length cDNA of cysteine dioxygenase ( ) and cysteine sulfite decarboxylase ( ), which are key genes involved in taurine metabolism in , and found that betaine and taurine contents and the expression of key genes were regulated by seawater salinity.
