Background: Activated methods of thromboelastometry such as EXTEM and INTEM are routinely used in management of severe bleeding. However, sometimes the patient is bleeding despite the normal values of EXTEM/ INTEM. Non-activated thromboelastometry (NATEM) is the most sensitive to coagulopathy and shows pathologic results in such cases. However, it is necessary to find an appropriate time interval between blood sampling and NATEM analysis as the results are strongly influenced by time.
Methods: In 18 healthy volunteers we performed NATEM analyses of citrated blood samples at 0, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, and 60 minutes after sampling.
Results: All NATEM parameters showed a procoagulation trend with the time elapsing from blood sample collection with coagulation time (CT) being the most sensitive parameter. After 20 minutes this parameter became relatively stable as the difference among CT at 20th, 30th, and 60th minute was not statistically significant (p > 0.05). The least differences of CT values with maximum time window were found between 30 and 60 minutes.
Conclusions: Citrated blood sample becomes stable after 20 minutes of storage but the time window between 30 and 60 minutes seems to be more suitable for NATEM analysis in clinical practice.

Weaning is essential for foal growth and development. We determined the intestinal flora structure of donkey foals at the end of weaning (PreW_4d) and three stages after weaning (PostW_4d, PostW_8d, and PostW_15d) to explore the effects of weaning on intestinal development of donkey foals. The results showed that the main microbial flora in the gut of the donkey foal were Firmicutes and Bacteroides, and the proportion of Firmicutes gradually increased with weaning, which was an important reflection of the donkey foal's adaptability to the transition from lactose liquid feed to plant fiber solid feed.

Background/objectives: Magnesium (Mg)-based food supplements contribute to the maintenance of adequate levels of Mg that are essential for overall health and well-being. The aim of this double-blind, randomized, cross-over clinical study was to assess the plasma Mg levels in volunteers following the oral administration of a magnesium-based nutraceutical ingredient, MAGSHAPE microcapsules (Mg-MS), in comparison to other commonly used magnesium sources, including the following: Mg Oxide (MgO), Mg Citrate (Mg-C), and Mg bisglycinate (Mg-BG).
Methods: A total of 40 healthy women and men were put on a low-Mg diet for 7 days, and after 8 h of fasting, a blood sample was taken from a digital puncture before (0 h) and 1 h, 4 h, and 6 h after the oral intake of each product.
