Background: In recent years, machine learning (ML)-based models have been widely used in clinical domains to predict clinical risk events. However, in production, the performances of such models heavily rely on changes in the system and data. The dynamic nature of the system environment, characterized by continuous changes, has significant implications for prediction models, leading to performance degradation and reduced clinical efficacy.

Reefs are facing a global decline with sewage pollution emerging as a significant and poorly understood threat. Inadequate wastewater management and disorderly urbanization contribute to water pollution globally. Tropical Southwestern Atlantic comprises a set of oceanic Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) including the Fernando de Noronha Archipelago in Brazil, which has experienced significant population growth without expanding the sewage infrastructure.

Construction waste (CW) is produced in large quantities, resulting in severe land occupation and resource depletion. This study utilized CW as fillers to construct a denitrification biofilter (DNBF-CW) for treating secondary effluent from wastewater plants. Performance and mechanism were analyzed by water quality, biomass and its distribution, physicochemical characteristics, microbial community structure, extracellular polymeric substances and protein secondary structure analysis.

To compare unused phacoemulsification tips and those used different times with different techniques of cataract surgery (divide and conquer and chop), in vivo phacoemulsifications were performed with tips of different numbers of operation. These were compared with the same number of sterilized-only and unused tips with the help of an atomic force microscope. Comparison of roughness values (Sa, Sq), geometric and measurable flange length and surface was also performed (profile length %, area %).

Background: An inherent difference exists between male and female bodies, the historical under-representation of females in clinical trials widened this gap in existing healthcare data. The fairness of clinical decision-support tools is at risk when developed based on biased data. This paper aims to quantitatively assess the gender bias in risk prediction models.
