The response electron distribution anisotropy (REDA) approximation was proposed to analyze the relationship between optical anisotropy and distribution of bonding electrons in compounds. Further, the optical anisotropy of tetrahedral chromophore compounds with common small birefringence can be enhanced and excellent nonlinear optical properties can be obtained by optimizing the distribution.

Disruption of the glymphatic system plays a vital role in pathogenesis of neurodegeneration in normal tension glaucoma (NTG). We evaluated the impairment of glymphatic system of NTG patients by diffusion tensor image analysis along the perivascular space (DTI-ALPS), and explored the correlation between the ALPS index and dysfunction of visual cortices in resting state. DTI-ALPS was applied to 37 normal controls (NCs) and 37 NTG patients.

Toward Large-Scale Photonic Chips Using Low-Anisotropy Thin-Film Lithium-Tantalate.

College of Optical Science and Engineering, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, 310058, China.

Photonic manipulation of large-capacity data with the advantages of high speed and low power consumption is a promising solution for explosive growth demands in the era of post-Moore. A well-developed lithium-niobate-on-insulator (LNOI) platform has been widely explored for high-performance electro-optic (EO) modulators to bridge electrical and optical signals. However, the photonic waveguides on the x-cut LNOI platform suffer serious polarization-mode conversion/coupling issues because of strong birefringence, making it hard to realize large-scale integration.

Due to their high refractive index, record optical anisotropy and a set of excitonic transitions in visible range at a room temperature, transition metal dichalcogenides have gained much attention. Here, we adapted a femtosecond laser ablation for the synthesis of WSe nanoparticles (NPs) with diameters from 5 to 150 nm, which conserve the crystalline structure of the original bulk crystal. This method was chosen due to its inherently substrate-additive-free nature and a high output level.

Research on manipulating materials using light has garnered significant interest, yet examples of controlling electronic polarization in magnetic materials remain scarce. Here, the hysteresis of electronic polarization in the anti-ferromagnetic semiconductor FePS is demonstrated via light. Below the Néel temperature, linear dichroism (i.

Electromagnetic and optical properties of Na, Mg, and Al-adsorbed stanene nanoribbons: potential applications.

J Phys Condens Matter

Institute for Southeast Regional Development Studies, Thu Dau Mot University, Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province, Vietnam.

Density functional theory (DFT) combined with the Viennasimulation package (VASP) was used to investigate the electronic, magnetic, and optical properties of one-dimensional stanene nanoribbons (SnNRs) and Na, Mg, and Al-adsorbed SnNRs. The SnNRs, with a width of 10 Sn atoms and hydrogen-passivated edges, retained their hexagonal honeycomb structure after structural optimization. Both pristine and adsorbed SnNRs exhibit narrow band gap semiconducting behavior, with pristine SnNRs being non-magnetic and adsorbed SnNRs showing non-zero magnetic moments.
