Background: There is growing evidence from laboratory and clinical trials that deep brain stimulation (DBS) at memory associated structures enhances cognitive functions. Best site for memory enhancing-DBS is still unclear. The medial septum (MS), the important modulator of the hippocampal neural network, might be a key target to accomplish therapeutic efficacy in memory impaired patients.

Background: Several genetic and cardiovascular risk factors increase incidence of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). Hypertension and the ε4 allele of apolipoprotein E (ApoE) are powerful drivers of cognitive impairment in ADRD. These risk factors are also associated with decreased cerebral blood flow (CBF).

Immunotherapy-induced hepatitis is a well-known and relatively common side effect of immune checkpoint inhibitors. It is usually mild to moderate and responds well to corticosteroids with a full recovery. However, in rare cases, severe liver injury may develop, leading to fulminant liver failure.

We describe a series of five patients with bilateral parotid enlargement as a sequalae to envenomation by the common krait (Bungarus caeruleus). Fine-needle aspiration cytology of the parotid gland was performed in four cases. The cytology revealed a mild lymphocytic inflammatory response in a red blood cell mixed proteinaceous background.
