The patient was a 73-year-old man, diagnosed with advanced huge hepatocellular carcinoma with a tumor thrombus extending into the inferior vena cava and extrahepatic metastases. Radiation therapy(50 Gy)was applied for the bone metastases, primary tumor, and tumor thrombus, and the patient received a cisplatin transcatheter arterial infusion(100mg/ body, 5 courses). Sorafenib was administered orally once the local lesion was under control. The tumor showed a partial response according to the RECIST criteria, but the tumor thrombus in the inferior vena cava almost disappeared. The presence of a tumor thrombus in the inferior vena cava must be regarded as an oncologic emergency. Acisplatin transcatheter arterial infusion and radiation therapy may be treatment options for unresectable cases.

: Examinations of procalcitonin (PCT) and Ki-67 expression levels in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients who have undergone liver transplantation (LT) through immunohistochemical analyses of tumor tissue may reveal the biological characteristics of the tumor, thus informing the selection of HCC patients for LT. : Hepatectomy specimens from 86 HCC patients who underwent LT were obtained and analyzed immunohistochemically for the expression of PCT and Ki-67. The percentage and intensity of PCT staining, as well as the percentage of Ki-67 expression, were assessed for each patient.

Splanchnic vein thrombosis (SVT), which is particularly prevalent in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), has a multifactorial pathomechanism involving the anticoagulant protein C (PC) pathway. To better characterize the hypercoagulable state in SVT we assessed its key enzymes thrombin and activated PC (APC). The study population included 73 patients with SVT, thereof 36 MPN+, confirmed by bone marrow biopsy, 37 MPN-, and 30 healthy controls.

Background: A patient with acute myeloid leukemia (AML) presented with a cardiac mass of unknown nature. This case underscores the importance of careful monitoring and a multidisciplinary approach in managing and differentiation of rare cardiac complications in leukemia patients. It aims to improve diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic outcomes in similar challenging scenarios.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) stands as the predominant type of primary liver cancer, frequently accompanied by portal vein tumor thrombosis (PVTT). PVTT is a harbinger of a grim prognosis, with current treatment modalities falling short of expectations. Delving deeper into the pathophysiology of PVTT, researchers have come to recognize that PVTT and HCC may originate from different clones.

A rare autopsy case of malignant transcription factor E3 (TFE3)-rearranged perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PEComa)-like neoplasm is presented. An 84-year-old woman manifested multiple cerebral infarctions and repetitive embolic events in the supra mesenchymal artery (SMA), and the presence of a mobile mass in the heart's left ventricle was also revealed. Tumoral lesions were also found in a pelvic space and a right pleural cavity, and a biopsy was performed from one of the disseminated tumor masses in the right pleura.
