The purpose of this study was to compare the effect of elastic tape (Kinesio tape) to placebo tape or static stretching on delayed onset muscle soreness. Fifty-one untrained female healthy volunteers were randomly assigned into three groups (n = 17/group), elastic tape, placebo tape and stretching group. Muscle soreness was induced by 4 sets of 25 maximal isokinetic (60°.s) eccentric contractions of dominant quadriceps on an isokinetic dynamometer. Compared with placebo tape, the elastic tape participants had less muscle soreness at 72 h post-exercise (p = 0.01). The elastic tape also increased isometric strength at 72 h post-exercise compared with the placebo (p = 0.03) and stretching group (p = 0.02). However, there was little effect between groups for changes in thigh circumference, jumping, pressure pain threshold, rate of perceived exertion, creatine kinase activity and joint motion. Elastic taping increased muscle strength recovery and reduced muscle soreness after intensive exercise.

This study investigates the potential of reusing punched-steel waste, a significant component of solid inorganic waste, in composite materials for construction applications. Driven by the growing global demand for raw materials (which is projected to quadruple by 2050) and the need for sustainable waste management practices, this research explores the creation of a composite material (PPLK) incorporating punched-steel tape (LPM-4 grade) embedded in a polypropylene matrix. Experimental testing of PPLK specimens (310 × 90 × 6.

Civil engineering structures are subject to both static and dynamic loadings. This applies especially to buildings in seismic areas as well as bridges, viaducts, and road and railway structures loaded with road or rail traffic. One of the solutions used to repair and strengthen such structures in the event of emergency damage are fibre-reinforced polyurethanes (FRPUs).

Background: Kinesio tape (KT) has gained popularity in sports and rehabilitation due to its ease of use and potential benefits. However, its effectiveness is not well understood especially in addressing fatigue, a condition that can impair muscle function and increase the musculoskeletal risk of injury. Given KT's potential impact on muscle activity and recovery, this review aims to evaluate the effects of lower limb KT on pain, strength, and balance following fatigue.

Diamond is an exceptional material with great potential across various fields owing to its interesting properties. However, despite extensive efforts over the past decades, producing large quantities of desired ultrathin diamond membranes for widespread use remains challenging. Here we demonstrate that edge-exposed exfoliation using sticky tape is a simple, scalable and reliable method for producing ultrathin and transferable polycrystalline diamond membranes.

Weight training is widely adopted and highly effective for enhancing both muscular strength and endurance. A popular weightlifting exercise is the deadlift, which targets multiple muscle groups including the lower back, glutes, and hamstrings. However, incorrect technique (i.
