Although splines have been in popular use in CAD for more than half a century, spline research is still an active field, driven by the challenges we are facing today within isogeometric analysis and big data. Splines are likely to play a vital future role in enabling effective big data exploration techniques in 3D, 4D, and beyond.

Unlabelled: Current guidelines recommend 6-h milk fasting in periprocedural settings; however, recent evidence suggests potential overconservativeness and supports more liberal pediatric fasting protocols. This study assessed the gastric emptying of two different milk quantities in elementary school-age children using gastric ultrasonography. This prospective crossover trial involved 30 healthy children who fasted overnight on two separate occasions within one month, consuming either 5 or 10 mL/kg of milk.

An explainable transformer model integrating PET and tabular data for histologic grading and prognosis of follicular lymphoma: a multi-institutional digital biopsy study.

Eur J Nucl Med Mol Imaging

January 2025

Department of Nuclear Medicine, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, No.37, Guoxue Alley, Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, 610041, China.

Background: Pathological grade is a critical determinant of clinical outcomes and decision-making of follicular lymphoma (FL). This study aimed to develop a deep learning model as a digital biopsy for the non-invasive identification of FL grade.

Methods: This study retrospectively included 513 FL patients from five independent hospital centers, randomly divided into training, internal validation, and external validation cohorts.

Recent 5‑year trends in biliary tract cancer survival rates: An analytical big data survey.

Med Int (Lond)

January 2025

Division of Oncology/Hematology, Department of Internal Medicine, Korea University Anam Hospital, Korea University College of Medicine, Seoul 02841, Republic of Korea.

Biliary tract cancer (BTC), also known as cholangiocarcinoma, is a relatively rare type of cancer with a poor prognosis. Despite the combination of chemotherapy and advances in targeted therapy, which have potentially improved the prognosis of patients with BTC, research on outcomes remains inadequate. The present study thus analyzed the survival trends of patients with BTC.

Thyroid cancer, one of the most common endocrine tumors, generally has a favorable prognosis but remains a significant medical and societal concern due to its high incidence. Early diagnosis and treatment of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) significantly affect long-term outcomes, requiring the selection and application of appropriate initial treatments to improve prognosis and quality of life. Recent advances in technology and health information systems have enhanced our understanding of the molecular genetics of thyroid cancer, facilitating the identification of aggressive subgroups and enabling the accumulation of research on risk factors through big data.
