Papillary colorimetry is a qualitative and quantitative diagnostic method that defines the displacement of the temporal and nasal color ranges on the x;y plane of the German Industrial Standard (DIN) color chart. Starting with normal temporal and nasal papillary stain values, there are, for qualitative diagnosis, four different directions in which the color range can shift from normal values on the DIN color chart, i.e., in connection with simple optic atrophies, optic atrophies due to vascular conditions, hyperemic papillae, and deviations of the color range under vasodilative therapy. Quantitative examinations of optic atrophy using papillary colorimetry have so far been conducted (1) with simple descending atrophies, (2) following anemic papillary infarct, and (3), rudimentarily, in cases of glaucomatous optic nerve head. The best correlation between papillary atrophy and loss of visual function was found with simple optic atrophy. Hence this last-mentioned condition represents the principal area of application of papillary colorimetry as an examination method.

Background/aims: The aim of this study was to assess the optic nerve head (ONH) and macular vessel density with optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) and the ONH haemoglobin (ONH Hb) amount with Laguna ONhE program in open-angle glaucoma (OAG) patients.
Methods: In this prospective observational cross-sectional study, 67 OAG patients and 41 healthy age-sex frequency matched subjects were examined with OCT-A and retinal photos. The circumpapillary (wcpVD), optic nerve head (iVD) and macular (wmVD) capillary vessel density of OCT-A and ONH colorimetric assessment to determine the ONH Hb amount using the Laguna ONhE program were evaluated.

Background: This prospective cohort study aimed to assess sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping using isosulfan blue (ISB) compared with ISB plus indocyanine green (ICG) and near-infrared imaging (NIR) for patients with endometrial cancer.
Methods: In this study, 200 patients with endometrial cancer underwent SLN assessments and were randomized to ISB + ICG (n = 180) or ISB alone (n = 20). Blue dye determinations were recorded for all 200 cases followed by NIR imaging of ICG for 180 randomized subjects.

Purpose: In the present study, we evaluated changes in the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and optic disk color (i.e., the level of paleness as an indirect sign of axonal loss) in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) compared with healthy controls.

This study aims to investigate the apoptosis-inducing effect of fructose 1,6-bisphosphate (F1,6BP) on the related mechanism of papillary thyroid carcinoma W3 and T cells. W3 cells were treated with F1,6BP alone or in combination with antioxidant catalase (CAT) or N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC). The changes of cell viability and cell nucleus morphology were examined by cell proliferation assay and Hoechst staining, and apoptosis levels of these cells were measured with flow cytometry.

The BRAF(V600E) mutation has been reported to occur in 30% to 80% of papillary thyroid carcinomas (PTCs). Although direct sequencing is the method most commonly used to identify mutations, this technique is not sensitive enough to accurately detect low level mutation. To determine the optimal diagnostic method for detecting the BRAF(V600E) mutation in PTC, we compared the diagnostic efficacy of four representative detection methods in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded thyroid tissues obtained from 40 patients diagnosed with PTC.
