Domesticated lettuce varieties encompass much morphological variation across a range of crop type groups, with large collections of cultivars and landrace accessions maintained in genebanks. Additional variation not captured during domestication, present in ancestral wild relatives, represents a potentially rich source of alleles that can deliver to sustainable crop production. However, these large collections are difficult and costly to screen for many agronomically important traits. In this paper, we describe the generation of a diversity collection of 96 lettuce and wild species accessions that are amenable to routine phenotypic analysis and their genotypic characterization with a panel of 682 newly developed expressed sequence tag (EST)-linked KASP™ single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers that are anchored to the draft genome assembly. To exemplify the utility of these resources, we screened the collection for putative sources of resistance to currant-lettuce aphid () and carried out association analyses to look for potential SNPs linked to resistance.

Background: Dementia, a growing health crisis, disproportionally affects persons from racial/ethnic backgrounds and individuals with comorbidities. Latelife change in cognition is complex and nonlinear, as well as differential for these individuals. These individuals are also largely underrepresented in clinical trials.

Aim And Background: Glass ionomer cement (GIC) serves as a widely used restorative dental material, known for its direct bonding to tooth structures and fluoride-releasing properties. This study aims to investigate the enhancement of GIC through the incorporation of a green-mediated nanocomposite comprising chitosan, titanium, zirconium, and hydroxyapatite, with a focus on evaluating the wear resistance of the modified GIC.

Materials And Methods: A one-pot synthesis technique was utilized to prepare a green-mediated nanocomposite incorporating chitosan, titanium, zirconium, and hydroxyapatite nanoparticles.

Antibiotic resistance is a global public health threat driven, in part, by antibiotic overprescription. Behavior change theories are increasingly used to try to modify prescriber behavior. A metasynthesis of 8 reviews was conducted to identify factors influencing antibiotic prescribing for adults in hospital settings and to analyze these factors using 4 behavior change frameworks.

The rising threat of antimicrobial resistance among pathogens highlights the critical need for novel antimicrobial agents. This study explores the potential of natural products by investigating hexane extracts from the marine sponge Haliclona fibulata (HF) for their antibacterial efficacy. The well diffusion method of HF extract showed significant antibacterial activity against P.

Comparative Effects of Different Exercise Types on Cardiovascular Health and Executive Function in Sedentary Young Individuals.

Med Sci Sports Exerc

January 2025

Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Physical Activity and Health Promotion, Guangzhou Sport University, Guangzhou, Guangdong, CHINA.

Purpose: The present study aimed to compare the impacts of different exercise types on cardiovascular health and executive function in sedentary young individuals, and to determine the associations between cardiovascular function and executive function (EF) after exercise.

Methods: Sixty-three sedentary participants were randomly divided into high-intensity interval training (HIIT), moderate-intensity continuous training (MICT), resistance exercise (RE), and control groups. Macro- and microvascular endothelial function were assessed using brachial artery flow-mediated dilation and fingertip reactive hyperemia index, respectively.
