ECCO essential requirements for quality cancer care (ERQCC) are checklists and explanations of organisation and actions that are necessary to give high-quality care to patients who have a specific tumour type. They are written by European experts representing all disciplines involved in cancer care. ERQCC papers give oncology teams, patients, policymakers and managers an overview of the elements needed in any healthcare system to provide high quality of care throughout the patient journey. References are made to clinical guidelines and other resources where appropriate, and the focus is on care in Europe. Colorectal cancer: essential requirements for quality care CONCLUSION: Taken together, the information presented in this paper provides a comprehensive description of the essential requirements for establishing a high-quality CRC service. The ECCO expert group is aware that it is not possible to propose a 'one size fits all' system for all countries, but urges that access to multidisciplinary units or centres must be guaranteed for all those with CRC.

Estimating the Cost-Saving Threshold of a Rural Syringe Services Program Before and During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

AIDS Behav

January 2025

Department of Health, Behavior and Society , Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, 624 N. Broadway, Hampton House 184, Baltimore, MD, 21205, USA.

This study aimed to examine shifts in the cost-savings threshold of a rural syringe services program (SSP) that resulted in the 12-months following the identification of the COVID-19 pandemic. We compared SSP operational costs during the 12-months immediately before and after identification of the COVID-19 pandemic using administrative data from the Cabell-Huntington Harm Reduction Program (CHHRP), which is operated by the Cabell-Huntington Health Department in West Virginia. Data included monthly counts of client encounters, sterile syringe distribution, and HIV testing.

Optimized Metolachlor, Epoxiconazole and Chlorantraniliprole Mixture Analysis for Aquatic Toxicity Testing Using UHPLC-MS/MS.

Bull Environ Contam Toxicol

January 2025

Centro de Investigaciones en Bioquímica Clínica e Inmunología-CIBICI, Facultad de Ciencias Químicas, CONICET, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Haya de La Torre Esq., Medina Allende, 5000, Córdoba, Argentina.

The co-occurrence of pesticides in aquatic ecosystems highlights the need for studies investigating their potential toxicity as mixtures to the aquatic biota. Well-designed studies are essential to assess the presence and toxicity of relevant pesticide mixtures, particularly those such as the chloroacetamide herbicide metolachlor (MET), the triazole fungicide epoxiconazole (EP) and the diamide anthranilic insecticide chlorantraniliprole (CAP), which have not been previously tested, and whose co-occurrence is possible in waters close to cultivated areas. A solid phase extraction ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry method was developed to quantify equivalent toxicity concentrations for CAP, EP, and MET in artificial freshwater during acute toxicity tests.

Purpose: The Chinese community constitutes the largest demographic and faces the highest rates of cancer incidence in Singapore. Given this, palliative care plays a crucial role in supporting individuals, particularly those nearing the end of life, with family serving as their primary source of support. Many Chinese family caregivers in Singapore reported significant unmet needs in cancer care provision, with studies indicating that they often bear the brunt of caregiving responsibilities.

Advancements in food technology have increased the need for thorough analysis to ensure food safety, quality, and compliance with regulatory requirements. Capillary electrophoresis-mass spectrometry (CE-MS) has emerged as a powerful tool in food analysis due to its high separation efficiency, low sample consumption, and ability to handle complex matrices. However, challenges such as the use of volatile running buffers and maintaining the stability of the electrical circuit connecting the CE and MS systems have been addressed through advancements in interface designs, such as sheathless systems and optimized sheath-liquid compositions.
