New coumaryl-thiazole derivatives with the acetamide moiety as a linker between the alkyl chains and/or the heterocycle nucleus were synthesized and in vitro tested as acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitors. 2-(diethylamino)-N-(4-(2-oxo-2H-chromen-3-yl)thiazol-2-yl)acetamide (6c, IC value of 43 nM) was the best AChE inhibitor with a selectivity index of 4151.16 over BuChE. Kinetic study of AChE inhibition revealed that 6c was a mixed-type inhibitor. Moreover, the result of H4IIE hepatoma cell toxicity assay for 6c showed negligible cell death. Molecular docking studies were also carried out to clarify the inhibition mode of the more active compounds. Best pose of compound 6c is positioned into the active site with the coumarin ring wedged between the residues of the CAS and catalytic triad of AChE. In addition, the coumarin ring is anchored into the gorge of the enzyme by H-bond with Tyr130.

Aim: Emerging resistance among pathogens necessitates the development of novel antimicrobial agents. As a result, we aimed to synthesize new coumarins and study their antimicrobial activity with the hope of obtaining effective drugs.
Method: A series of coumarins were synthesized, characterized, and assessed for antimicrobial activity using broth microdilution and agar diffusion methods against Gram-positive (), Gram-negative () bacteria, and fungi ().

Polycystic ovarian syndrome is a heterogeneous endocrine disorder characterized by ovarian cysts, anovulation, endocrine variations, which includes oligo-amenorrhea along with associated subfertility and hyperandrogenism manifested as acne, hirsutism, and male-pattern alopecia. Coumarins are fused benzene and pyrone ring systems that exhibit a wide spectrum of bioactivities. This study aimed to investigate the effects of 3-acetyl coumarin (3-AC) on polycystic ovarian syndrome in female rats.

Aim: Developing new antimicrobial agents in response to the urgent challenge of antimicrobial resistance.
Methods: Synthesis of the targeted coumarins, elucidation of their structures using spectroscopic tools, and investigation of their antimicrobial activity.
Results: Coumarin-pyrazole with CF in the 3-position of the pyrazole ring displayed the lowest minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) and the minimum bactericidal concentrations (MBCs) with values of 1.

ConspectusSynthetic extracellular matrix (ECM) engineering is a highly interdisciplinary field integrating materials and polymer science and engineering, chemistry, cell biology, and medicine to develop innovative strategies to investigate and control cell-matrix interactions. Cellular microenvironments are complex and highly dynamic, changing in response to injury and disease. To capture some of these critical dynamics , biomaterial matrices have been developed with tailorable properties that can be modulated in the presence of cells.
