Malt protein Z (PZ), the main albumin in malt endosperm, exhibits trypsin inhibitory activity and has the ability to bind fat-soluble active molecules. However, its potential utilization as a food ingredient necessitates an evaluation of its allergenicity. Lycopene has many functional activities, such as antioxidant and treatment or alleviation of various diseases, but its tendency to degrade easily hinders its effective utilization.

Rice milk is known for its wide range of beneficial effects on human health. Despite an increasing inclination towards rice drinks consumption, not much is known regarding the protein composition of commercial rice beverages. Hence, using a label-free quantitative proteomics approach we analyzed 9 different commercially available rice drinks and identified 259 rice proteins and 4 exogenous microbial α-amylases.

From a taxonomic point of view, Hymenoptera are subclassified into families: Apidae, including honeybees (Apis mellifera) and bumblebees (Bombus), and Vespidae, which, in turn, are divided into the subfamilies of Vespinae (wasps, including hornets, vespules, dolichovespules) and Polistinae (paper wasp). Hypersensitivity to Hymenoptera venom can be linked to immunological (IgE-mediated or non-IgE-mediated) and non-immunological mechanisms. Reactions are classified into local reactions, large local reactions, systemic reactions, toxic reactions, and unusual reactions.

However, the existing safety concerns and the need for more efficacious alternatives that shorten the duration of treatment have stimulated research into the development of novel alternatives. Some of these novel alternatives involve modifying allergens with molecules that target innate immunomodulatory receptors to suppress the immune activity of immune cells.
