Purpose: To demonstrate the successful percutaneous removal of a tiny needle fracture from the heart with the use of a guide wire with a magnet at its distal end and two snares through both femoral veins.

Case Report: We report a rare case of a tiny needle fracture in the apex of the right ventricle of the heart in a drug abuser after its migration from the neck through the lumen of the right internal jugular vein. The procedure of the percutaneous approach and removal of this tiny foreign body was extremely difficult and dangerous due to its location and tiny size.

Conclusion: This percutaneous technique for the removal of a tiny foreign body from the heart was proven to be both effective and safe for the patient, and it provides a good therapeutic option for removal of intracardiac foreign bodies.

The influence of solute concentration and filtration on mesoscale clusters of flufenamic acid, a typical pharmaceutical compound, in ethanol.

J Colloid Interface Sci

Hypothesis: It is hypothesised in this work that mesoscale clusters will be present in both undersaturated and supersaturated solutions of organic pharmaceutical molecules. These clusters, being loose aggregates, could be sensitive to shear forces experienced during filtration. Thus, comparing the behaviour of these clusters alongside nanoparticles during filtration-an important sample treatment parameter during crystallization-will elucidate qualitative differences from solid, crystalline nanoparticles of similar size.

Formaldehyde-purifying air conditioner with integrated gas-phase photoelectrocatalytic system.

Developing an efficient and economical indoor air purification system for catalytic decomposition of formaldehyde is of great significance. In this work, an indoor air conditioner capable of purifying formaldehyde was designed by directly integrating defective WO/TiO nanotube catalytic fin, with both thermal conductivity and gas-phase photoelectrocatalytic (GPEC) properties, onto the condenser component. The electrochemical treatment of the catalytic fin introduced a substantial number of oxygen vacancies, resulting in a significant increase in carrier concentration and mobility to the semi-metallic level.

Migrated intra-uterine device to infra-umbilical skin: a rare case report.

BMC Womens Health

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, College of Medicine and Health Sciences, University of Gondar, Gondar, Ethiopia.

Introduction: IUDs are effective, reversible and safe methods of contraception. The mechanism of action of IUDs as a group is inducing endometrial atrophy, apoptosis, altering tubal motility; preventing sperm permeability, fertilization, and implantation. Complications of IUD include menstrual disturbance, pelvic pain, and increased risk of ectopic pregnancy with contraceptive failure, device expulsion, uterine perforation or transmural migration with misplacement of the device.

The scattering of tiny particles in the atmosphere causes a haze effect on remote sensing images captured by satellites and similar devices, significantly disrupting subsequent image recognition and classification. A generative adversarial network named TRPC-GAN with texture recovery and physical constraints is proposed to mitigate this impact. This network not only effectively removes haze but also better preserves the texture information of the original remote sensing image, thereby enhancing the visual quality of the dehazed image.

Microtextured microneedles are tiny needle-like structures with micron-scale microtextures, and the drugs stored in the microtextures can be released after entering the skin to achieve the effect of precise drug delivery. In this study, the skin substitution model of Ogden's hyperelastic model and the microneedle array and microtexture models with different geometrical parameters were selected to simulate and analyse the flow of the microtexture microneedle arrays penetrating the skin by the finite-element method, and the length of the microneedles was determined to be 200 μm, the width 160 μm, and the value of the gaps was determined to be 420 μm. A four-pronged cone was chosen as the shape of microneedles, and a rectangle was chosen as the shape of the drug-carrying microneedle.
