A series of novel tricoumarin-pyridines have been synthesized by the reaction of 4-formyl coumarins and substituted 3-acetylcoumarin with ammonium acetate for the application in organic electronics as well as fluorescent dyes. The structures of all new compounds were confirmed and characterized by IR, H NMR and ESI-Mass analysis. All the important photo physical prerequisites for organic electronic application such as strong and broad optical absorption, thermal stability were determined for the synthesized molecules. Optical properties were studied by UV-Vis absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy. Optical band gaps of the tricoumarin-pyridines were found to be 2.72-3.10 eV as calculated from their onset absorption edge. The tricoumarin-pyridines were thermally stable up to 290-370 °C as determined by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Photophysical studies indicate the synthesized materials are promising candidates for organic electronic applications.

Polyoxometalates (POMs) are composed of nanometric metal-oxide anions and have rich solution chemistry. In this class, Keggin POMs have been identified as the most influential inorganic additives for aqueous nonionic soft matter systems. POMs being at the borderline of classical ions and charged colloids possess fascinating solution properties; the present work aims to delve deeper into the interactions between nanoions and nonionic soft matters from a spectroscopic point of view.

N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)-protected gold nanoclusters display high stability and high photoluminescence, making them well-suited for fluorescence imaging and photodynamic therapeutic applications. We report herein the synthesis of two bisNHC-protected Au nanoclusters with π-extended aromatic systems. Depending on the position of the π-extended aromatic system, changes to the structure of the ligand shell in the cluster are observed, with the ability to correlate increases in rigidity with increases in fluorescence quantum yield.

Heteroarene-fused heteroles have attracted considerable attention owing to their unique electronic and photophysical properties. The bridging element plays a crucial role in determining the electronic characteristics of the resulting π-conjugated molecules. In this study, we synthesized a series of heteroarene-fused benzo[b]arsoles and investigated their structures and photophysical properties.

Aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) reduces luminescence and compromises brightness in solid-state displays, necessitating strategies to mitigate its effects for enhanced performance. This study presents cost-effective method to mitigate ACQ of pyrene by co-assembling polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons within low molecular weight gelator. Synthesized from readily available materials-cholesteryl chloroformate and pentaerythritol-in one-step reaction, gelator incorporates four cholesteryl units, reported to promote robust supramolecular gels in various solvents.

Singlet fission (SF) is a process that is potentially beneficial for photovoltaics by producing two triplet excitons from a single photon, but its application is often hindered by the inability to effectively separate the resultant triplet excitons. It has been proposed that an energy gradient can assist in separating triplet excitons through triplet energy transfer between chromophores of different triplet energies, but this approach has only been studied in solution and the efficacy of this strategy in the solid state is under explored. Here, we investigate energy-gradient-driven SF in a disordered solid state, in the form of suspensions of 5,12-bis(triisopropylsilylethnyl)tetracene:6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethnyl)pentance (TIPS-Tn:TIPS-Pn) blend nanoparticles (NPs).
