The treatment with glucocorticoids brings about a decrease in the expression of Ia-like and LFA-J antigens on the membrane surface of peripheral blood lymphocytes and monocytes, diminution of the relative count of monocytes with fixed immunoglobulins (with Fc-receptors). A reduction of the count of B lymphocytes and monocytes with Ia and LFA-J antigens in the spleen was recorded. The hematologic effect attained in the treatment with glucocorticoids was determined by the combined effect of the drugs: by the blockade of monocyte/macrophage receptors and by the redistributiion++ action of prednisolone leading to the release of blood platelets from the bone marrow to the blood bed.

Background Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, progressive, disabling disease associated with a high rate of infection, evidence of chronic inflammation, and a high mortality rate. Abnormalities of serum cytokines and changes in the activity of inflammatory cells were associated with relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis (MS-RR). This study aims to introduce new inflammatory ratios derived from hematological and lipid indices as discriminators of T-helper (Th)-1/Th-2 activity in RR-MS.

Objective: The deterioration of acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) is associated with abnormal activation of inflammatory pathways. This study aims to evaluate the impact and predictive value of a novel inflammatory marker, the systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), on short-term adverse outcomes in ADHF patients.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 1,448 ADHF patients from Jiangxi Provincial People's Hospital between 2019-2022.

Aim: To compare the respective clinical and pathologic features of antimitochondrial antibodies-negative (AMA-negative) primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) and cholestatic type drug-induced liver injury (DILI) for clinical differential diagnosis.
Patients And Methods: Clinical data from 23 patients with AMA-negative PBC and 39 patients with cholestatic type DILI, treated at our hospital between January 2013 and January 2024, were collected and retrospectively analyzed.
Results: The cholestatic type DILI group exhibited a higher incidence of malaise and abdominal pain compared with the AMA-negative PBC group.

The neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), derived neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (dNLR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte and platelet ratio (N/LP ratio), aggregate index of systemic inflammation (AISI), systemic inflammation response index (SIRI), and systemic inflammation index (SII) have emerged as noteworthy determinants in evaluating the severity and mortality prognosis of inflammatory diseases. In order to predict mortality rate, this study aimed to assess the impact of systemic inflammatory markers on both men and women who were admitted to the hospital due to SARS-CoV-2 infection. The laboratory parameters of the 2007 COVID-19 patients were analyzed in a retrospective study (men = 1145 and women = 862).

Introduction: Anandamide (AEA) is an endocannabinoid that has recently been recognized as a regulator of various inflammatory diseases as well as cancer. While AEA was thought to predominantly engage cannabinoid (CB) receptors, recent findings suggest that, given its protective anti-inflammatory role in pathological conditions, anandamide may engage not only CB receptors.
Methods: In this study, we studied the role of exogenous AEA in a mouse AirPouch model of acute inflammation by examining immune cell infiltrates by flow cytometry.
