We demonstrate triggered single photon emission up to 77K from an ordered 5x8 array of InGaAs single quantum dots (SQDs). The SQDs are grown selectively on patterned mesa tops utilizing substrate-encoded size-reducing epitaxy (SESRE). It exploits designed surface-curvature stress gradients to preferentially direct atom migration from mesa sidewalls to the top during growth. The emission from the SQDs exhibits a g(0) of 0.19 ± 0.03 at 8K and decent emission spectral uniformity (standard deviation <1% of emission wavelength). The SESRE QDs are inherently compatible with on-chip integrated light manipulation elements, thereby enabling a path towards integrated nanophotonic systems for quantum information processing.

Paramyxovirus membrane fusion requires an attachment protein for receptor binding and a fusion protein for membrane fusion triggering. Nipah virus (NiV) attachment protein (G) binds to ephrinB2 or -B3 receptors, and fusion protein (F) mediates membrane fusion. NiV-F is a class I fusion protein and is activated by endosomal cleavage.

The increasing use of immune suppressive monoclonal antibodies in the treatment of organ transplant recipients and patients with oncologic, neurological, and autoimmune diseases can lead to serious morbidity and mortality from the reactivation of viral agents that persist in humans. The squirrel monkey polyomaviruses are naturally found in Bolivian squirrel monkeys (SQM) and may be a useful model for the study of polyomavirus-associated pathogenesis and experimental treatment and prevention strategies. Two diverse groups of squirrel monkeys were given, a single dose of an anti-B cell antibody (rituximab) resulting in complete depletion of B cells (CD20+), while an anti-CD8 monoclonal antibody (7 pt-3F9) resulted in a transient depletion of CD8+ lymphocytes compared with control animals (group with no infusion with either of the monoclonal antibodies).

Although with current treatment, acute mortality from MI is low, the damage and remodeling associated with MI are responsible for subsequent heart failure. Reducing cell death associated with acute MI would decrease the mortality associated with heart failure.

The aim of this study is to utilize two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) to investigate the potential causal relationship among psoriasis, iridocyclitis, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and to explore any potential mediation effects. Pooled data were derived from the public genome-wide association study (GWAS) in NAFLD (finn-b-NAFLD), iridocyclitis (finn-b-H7_IRIDOCYCLITIS) and psoriasis (finn-b-L12_PSORI_VULG). Univariable MR (UVMR) analysis was implemented to explore the causal relationship among psoriasis, iridocyclitis, and NAFLD, and inverse variance weighting (IVW) was used as the primary analytical method.

Poly(lactide) (PLA) is a promising biodegradable polymer with potential applications in single-use packaging. However, its use is limited by brittleness, and its biodegradability is restricted to industrial compost conditions due in part to an elevated glass transition temperature (). We previously showed that addition of a poly(ethylene-oxide)--poly(butylene oxide) diblock copolymer (PEO-PBO) forms macrophase-separated rubbery domains in PLA that can impart significant toughness at only 5 wt %.
