Dental fusion and agenesis present unique esthetic challenges for the dental team when discovered in a developing child. This article highlights treatment of a 9-year-old girl with fusion of a maxillary central and lateral incisor with a congenitally missing lateral over a 10-year period. The article defines the developmental anomalies, provides a review of treatment options for the clinical team, and highlights clinical management using a conservative, interdisciplinary approach to esthetic treatment.

The Grotte du Bison, in Arcy-sur-Cure (Yonne, France), yielded a large assemblage of 49 Neandertal remains from late Mousterian layers, offering critical insights for the study of Middle to Upper Paleolithic populations of Western Europe. Previous studies described the external morphology of 13 isolated teeth and a partial maxilla. Building on this previous work, the current study provides further descriptions and analyses of the remains, including one postcranial fragment, six cranial fragments, two maxillary fragments, and 40 isolated teeth.

Sonic hedgehog (Shh) is expressed in the oropharyngeal epithelium, including the frontonasal ectodermal zone (FEZ), which is defined as the boundary between Shh and Fgf8 expression domains in the frontonasal epithelium. To investigate the role of SHH signaling from the oropharyngeal epithelium, we generated mice in which Shh expression is specifically deleted in the oropharyngeal epithelium (Isl1-Cre; Shh). In the mutant mouse, Shh expression was excised in the oropharyngeal epithelium as well as FEZ and ventral forebrain, consistent with the expression pattern of Isl1.

Background: The premaxillary-maxillary suture (PMS) is related to midface development, but its exact closure period remains undefined. Some authors consider the premaxilla as an independent bone with potential for orthopaedic stimulation, while others see it as a phylogenetic vestige.
Objective: To determine the prevalence of the premaxillary-maxillary suture (PMS) in cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of patients aged 6 to 16years, according to age and sex, treated at the Dental Clinic of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile's Oral Imaging Service between 2015 and 2023.

The root canal systems of maxillary first molar (MFM) and maxillary second molar (MSM) variations represent a clinical challenge for endodontists, especially the prevalence of fused C-shaped roots. Having a thorough knowledge of root canal configuration is an extremely important point for a successful root canal treatment to avoid missing extra canals. The aim of this article was to present 2 cases of maxillary molar with an unusual C-shaped configuration diagnosed during root canal retreatment/treatment and conduct a literature review of the MFM and MSM anatomy.
