Background - Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a chronic disease characterized by histopathological lesions in lung tissue. This is the most common and most severe idiopathic interstitial pneumonias. Current treatments are based on the combination of corticosteroids and immunosuppressants, but their effectiveness is still debated. Purpose of work - Testing the preventive effect of Pistacia Lentiscus oil, known for its antioxidant, anti-mutagenic and anti-proliferative effects, on a model of experimental lung fibrosis. Methods - Two groups of rats received an intratracheal injection of bleomycin (4.5 mg / kg). The first group, control (n = 20 rats), has received no treatment. The second group was treated with Pistacia Lentiscus oil (n = 20 rats) for 30 days before fibrosis induction, by daily gavage oil Pistacia Lentiscus oil (3,33ml / kg). This treatment was continued for 10 days. At the end of the experimental period, all rats were sacrificed and the lung tissue was examined histopathologically and immunostained for TGFβ. Results - The chromatographic profile oil Pistacia Lentiscus oil shows the dominance of two fatty acids that are linoleic acid and palmitic acid representing respectively 70.57 and 24.67%. Our results also show a decrease in the distribution of TGFβ both at the level of the inflammatory infiltrate and at the level of the pulmonary parenchyma histiocytes of rats treated with Pistacia Lentiscus oil compared with control rats. However, these changes are not accompanied by statistically significant changes of fibrosis score and inflammatory index. Conclusion - Our results are interesting to consider. Further studies using higher doses of Pistacia Lentiscus oil are important to conduct.

This study aimed to define the antitumor effect of ethanolic extract of Pistacia vera leaves (PEE) toward breast cancer both in vitro and in vivo using dimethyl-benz(a)anthracene (DMBA)-induced breast tumor in adult female rats. PEE showed a potent antioxidant effect toward both DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) and ABTS (2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) radicals with IC values of 72.6 and 107.

Pistacia khinjuk, a dioecious plant native to Southeast Anatolia, Turkey, features distinct male and female individuals with varying bioactive compound profiles. This study investigates the gender-specific phytochemical composition of root extracts from male and female Pistacia khinjuk plants and their influence on the green synthesis of silver nanoparticles. Using natural bioactive compounds such as polyphenols, flavonoids, alkaloids, and terpenoids as reducing and stabilizing agents, the study demonstrates significant differences between the nanoparticles synthesized from male and female root extracts.

Background: Flavonoids are among the most important compounds found in plants, since laboratory studies have shown them to be a daily requirement in human diets due to their various health benefits. Therefore, this study focused on extracting, purifying, and measuring the antioxidant activity of the flavonoid quercetin, which is widely found in plants and possesses a variety of biological activities, from different plant sources.
Methods: The extraction of quercetin was performed using several methods (chemical, physical, and enzymatic) and several extraction solutions (water, ethanol, and chloroform) from several plants (spinach, dill, Onion Skin, , sumac, digalkhasab chemri, and leelwi chemri).

Background/objectives: The gut microbiota is linked to the pathogenesis of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), while supplementation with probiotics may result in positive alterations in the composition of the gut microbiome. This research aimed to map the changes in the gut microbiome and blood markers of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats after a dietary intervention with free or immobilized cells of the presumptive probiotic SK on pistachio nuts.
Methods: Twenty-four male Wistar rats were studied and divided into four groups (healthy or diabetic) which received the free or the immobilized .
