Medicinal extract has been chronicled extensively in traditional Chinese medicine. Isoquinoline alkaloids, extract of (Willd.) R. Br., have been used as feed additive in both swine and poultry. Dietary supplementation with isoquinoline alkaloids increases feed intake and weight gain. In addition, recent researches have demonstrated that isoquinoline alkaloids can regulate metabolic processes, innate immune system, and digestive functioning in animals. This review summarizes the latest scientific researches on isoquinoline alkaloids which are extracted from (Willd.) R. Br. This review specifically focuses on its role as a feed supplement and its associated impact on growth performance and innate immune system, as well as its capacity to act as a substitute for oral antibiotics.

Corynoline (COR) is an isoquinoline alkaloid derived from the traditional Chinese medicine Corydalis bungeana Turcz, known for its analgesic, antibacterial, neuroprotective, and osteoporosis-alleviating properties. However, its potential molecular effects against osteosarcoma (OS) remain unclear, warranting further investigation. This study demonstrated that COR inhibits OS cell proliferation and promotes apoptosis in a dose-dependent manner.

Link & Otto, an endemic plant of Mexico, is widely distributed in the central area of the country, mainly in the states of Tlaxcala, Puebla, and the State of Mexico. Ethnobotanical studies in different communities of these states have demonstrated that it is primarily used to treat diabetes and mental illnesses, such as "los nervios" (nerves) and "el ansia" (anxiety); these terms are used in traditional medicine, but it is accepted that they refer to anxiety disorders. This study aimed to validate the traditional use of aerial parts of Link & Otto in treating these illnesses.

The medicinal plant is rich in aporphine alkaloids, a type of benzylisoquinoline alkaloid (BIA), with aporphine being the representative and most abundant compound, but our understanding of the biosynthesis of BIAs in this plant has been relatively limited. Previous research reported the genome of and preliminarily identified the norcoclaurine synthase (NCS), which is involved in the early stages of the BIA biosynthetic pathways. However, the key genes promoting the formation of the aporphine skeleton have not yet been reported.

The rapid growth of the number of advanced Parkinson's disease (PD) patients has caused a significant increase in the use of device-aided therapies (DATs), including levodopa-carbidopa intestinal gel (LCIG) and continuous subcutaneous apomorphine infusion (CSAI). The objective of this study was to evaluate patients' satisfaction and the factors influencing preferences for CSAI and LCIG. The research focused on individuals diagnosed with advanced PD undergoing DAT at the Neurology Department of the University Hospital in Katowice.
