: Statistical analyses in human populations have associated limited food availability during development with increased longevity of next generations. In support, recent findings in revealed nutritional effects on transgenerational longevity. : In this study we tested the effect of nutrition on longevity of future generations in and whether this is sex-specific. We reared male larvae and adults of under different food conditions and performed lifespan analyses in F2 generation. : Grandsons of males which experienced starvation through larval stages were long-lived and grandsons of well fed larvae were short lived, in two strains. In one strain, the nutritional effect on transgenerational longevity was transmitted through male line. Interestingly, we find that dietary restriction in adult males is the main nutritional condition affecting lifespan of grandsons. : Our findings suggest that nutritional regulation of transgenerational longevity is evolutionarily conserved and developmental stage - dependent in .

Biocontrol techniques that impair reproductive capacity of insect pests provide opportunities to control the dynamics of their populations while minimizing collateral damage to non-target species and the environment. The Trojan Female Technique, or TFT, is a method of the trans-generational fertility-based population control through the release of females that carry mitochondrial DNA mutations that negatively affect male, but not female, reproductive output. TFT is based on the evolutionary hypothesis that, due to maternal inheritance of mitochondria, mutations which are beneficial or neutral in females but harmful in males can accumulate in the mitochondrial genome without selection acting against them.

Imidacloprid is a widely used insecticide for controlling piercing-sucking pests. However, its impact on nontarget insects must not be ignored. In this study, we assessed the effects of sublethal dose of imidacloprid on Sclerodermus alternatusi (Hymenoptera: Bethylidae), which is an important predator of many pests.

Due to the quick development of insecticide resistance, it is crucial to optimize management programs by understanding the sublethal effects of effective insecticides like chlorantraniliprole on L. populations. Using age-stage and two-sex life tables, we investigated the sublethal impacts of chlorantraniliprole on .

Microplastics and nanoplastics (MNPs) are ubiquitous environmental contaminants. Their prevalence, persistence, and increasing industrial production have led to questions about their long-term impact on human and animal health. This narrative review describes the effects of MNPs on oxidative stress, inflammation, and aging.

The present work investigates the multigenerational effects of paternal pre-conceptional exposure to continuous low-dose-rate gamma rays in C56BL/6J mice. Male C57BL/6J (F0 sires) mice were exposed to low dose rates of 20, 1, and 0.05 mGy/day for 400 days, to total accumulated doses of 8,000, 400, and 20 mGy, respectively.
