Background: Epistemic violence is enacted in medical curricula in mundane ways all the time, negatively impacting learners, teachers and patients. In this article, we address three forms of such violence: White supremacy, indigenous erasure and heteronormativity.
Methods: In this article, we examine the knowledge systems of medicine as a global phenomenon, impacted by Western and European ideologies of race and colonisation, both produced by them, helping to reproduce them through authoritative and hegemonic ideologies.

- Existing research on sex workers primarily highlights the vulnerabilities of cis women but largely overlooks older sex workers, prompting an exploration of their unique experiences in Karnataka, India.
- A study using in-depth interviews and focus groups with 39 cis women sex workers exposed issues like financial instability, limited livelihood options, and the failure of traditional familial support, particularly from their children.
- The findings underscore the importance of peer networks and community support in helping older sex workers navigate personal and professional challenges, while emphasizing the need for greater recognition and action to address the marginalization and barriers they face, such as ageism and stigma.
