This tutorial provides guidelines for conducting linear mixed effects (LME) analyses for simple designs, aimed at researchers familiar with t-tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and linear regression. First, we compare LME analyses with traditional methods when participants are the only source of random variation. We show that LME analysis is more interesting as soon as you have more than one observation per participant per condition.

Wildlife forensics is a relatively underexplored field of science. It provides forensic evidence to support legal investigations involving wildlife crime, such as the trafficking and poaching of animals and/or their goods. Silicone rubber (SiR) has a wide range of medical applications, but it lacks antimicrobial properties, leading to potential infection issues with related implants or medical devices. Most studies focus on adding anti-bacterial agents or surface modification, which usually result in composites with anti-bacterial properties, rather than synthesizing SiR with intrinsically antimicrobial performances. To tackle this issue, a double substituted bornyl-siloxane crosslinker (BC) is designed.

Monitoring wound infection and providing appropriate treatment are crucial for achieving favorable outcomes. However, the time-consuming nature of laboratory culture tests may delay timely intervention. To tackle this challenge, a simple yet effective HDG hydrogel, composed of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂), dopamine, and GelMA polymer, is developed for the ultrafast detection and treatment of Staphylococcus aureus (SA) infections.

Introduction: Since the mid-1900s, techniques in the repair of aortic arch and thoracoabdominal aortic pathologies have drastically evolved. Open aortic surgical repair was once the sole option for both simple and complex aneurysmal degeneration. Today, a number of minimally invasive and hybrid approaches are now available to assist both the surgeon and patient in tackling this challenging problem.
