Due to the development of praziquantel (PZQ) schistosomes resistant strains, the discovery of new antischistosomal agents is of high priority in research. This work reported the and effects of the edible and ornamental pomegranate extracts against . Leaves and stem bark ethanolic extracts of both dried pomegranates were prepared at 100, 300, and 500 g/mL for and 600 and 800 mg/kg for . Adult worms in RPMI-1640 medium for and infected mice for tests were obtained from Theodor Bilharz Research Institute, Cairo, Egypt. activity was manifested by significant coupled worms separation, reduction of motor activity, lethality, and ultrastructural tegumental alterations in adult worms. activity was manifested revealed by significant reduction of hepatic granulomas number and diameter, decreased number of bilharzial eggs in liver tissues, lowered liver inflammatory infiltration, decreased hepatic fibrosis, and inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) expression. Ethanolic stem bark extract of edible pomegranate exhibited highest antischistosomal activities both and . Therefore, pomegranate showed a good potential to be used as a promising new candidate for the development of new schistosomicidal agents.

Rhus chinensis, a deciduous tree of the genus Rhus (family Anacardiaceae), is widely cultivated in China for its medicinal, edible, and ornamental value (Zhang et al., 2022). In April 2022, symptoms of winged leaf dieback disease were observed at Southwest Forestry University in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China (E102°45'42.

Portulaca umbraticola, commonly known as "Eleven o'clock", is a popular ornamental plant in Brazil, but its potential as a non-conventional food source remains underexplored. Assessing its genetic and cytogenetic diversity is crucial for breeding and selecting optimal accessions. In this study, we analyzed the genetic diversity of P.

The approaches used to determine the medicinal properties of the plants are often destructive, labor-intensive, time-consuming, and expensive, making it impossible to analyze their quality analysis online. Performance of hyperspectral imaging (HSI) integrated with intelligent techniques to overcome these problems was investigated in this research. For this purpose, three classification methods-support vector machine, random forest (RF), and extreme gradient boosting-were studied for the classification of plants in three classes of medicinal, edible, and ornamental for the organs of leaf, stem, flower, and root.

Cerasus is a subgenus of Prunus in the family Rosaceae that is popular owing to its ornamental, edible, and medicinal properties. Understanding the evolution of the Cerasus subgenus and identifying selective trait loci in edible cherries are crucial for the improvement of cherry cultivars to meet producer and consumer demands. In this study, we performed a de novo assembly of a chromosome-scale genome for the sweet cherry (Prunus avium L.

Trichomes play a crucial role in plant resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses, and their development and characteristics vary across different species. This study demonstrates that trichomes of Lilium pumilum exhibit synchronized growth during flower bud differentiation and enhance the plant's adaptability to UV-B radiation and aphid infection. We identified LpNAC48, a NAC family transcription factor (TF), that interacted with the B-box (BBX) family TF LpBBX28, during trichome formation in L.
