Grafting of cell lines and primary tumours is a crucial step in the drug development process between cell line studies and clinical trials. is a program for computationally separating the sequencing reads of two species derived from grafted samples. operates on DNA or RNA-seq alignments to the two species and separates the components at very high sensitivity and specificity as illustrated in artificially mixed human-mouse samples. This allows for maximum recovery of data from target tumours for more accurate variant calling and gene expression quantification. Given that no general use open source algorithm accessible to the bioinformatics community exists for the purposes of separating the two species data, the proposed tool presents a novel approach and improvement to performing sequence analysis of grafted samples. Both Python and C++ implementations are available and they are integrated into several open and closed source pipelines. is open source and is freely available at https://github.com/AstraZeneca-NGS/disambiguate.

Vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA) represents a clinical challenge for transplant therapy, as it involves different tissues with unique immunogenicity. Even when receiving immunosuppressive therapy, they are more vulnerable to severe hypoxia, microvascular damage, and ultimately the rejection or chronic graft dysfunction after transplantation. This study aimed to develop a surgical protocol for VCA of the ear in a porcine biomodel in the absence of immunosuppression, maintaining the in vitro co-culture of the allograft and assessing their relationship with allograft survival.

Introduction: Following liver transplantation (LT), adequate nutrition is essential, as malnutrition may contribute to slower growth in pediatric patients and put patients at risk of complications following transplant. Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) is an eating disorder characterized by restrictive eating patterns that compromise nutrition. Patients with ARFID may have significant difficulty meeting nutritional needs due to fear of gastrointestinal distress, making it especially difficult to manage in patients following LT.

Mandibular bone defect reconstruction remains a significant challenge for surgeons worldwide. Among multiple biodegradable biopolymers, allogeneic bone scaffolds derived from human sources have been used as an alternative to autologous bone grafts, providing optimal conditions for cell recruitment, adhesion, and proliferation and demonstrating significant osteogenic properties. This study aims to investigate the bone microstructure of the human scapula as a source for allogeneic bone scaffold fabrication for mandibular tissue engineering purposes.

Stem cells have been widely used to produce artificial bone grafts. Nonetheless, the variability in the degree of stem cell differentiation is an inherent drawback of artificial graft development and requires robust evaluation tools that can certify the quality of stem cell-based products and avoid source-tissue-related and patient-specific variability in outcomes. Omics analyses have been utilised for the evaluation of stem cell attributes in all stages of stem cell biomanufacturing.

Chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) and oral lichen planus (LPO) are chronic inflammatory conditions with similar oral manifestations. This study aimed to assess whether serum and salivary cytokines (IL-1α, IL-6, IL-17) could serve as reliable biomarkers for cGVHD. A prospective cohort study was conducted involving cGVHD patients, LPO patients, and healthy controls.
