A rare complex dysraphic malformation, comprising segmental spinal dysgenesis with caudal agenesis, was found in a Holstein calf that was unable to stand and was slightly short at the lumbosacral spine with taillessness. The thoracolumbar and sacrococcygeal regions of the midline axial segments showed severe deformities. In the spinal cord, the thoracolumbar region showed severe constriction with myelodysplastic changes, and the sacrococcygeal region showed dorsoventral separation with connection to a neural mass. In the spine, vertebral anomalies according to the degree of the segmentation error were confirmed. The cervical and thoracic segments also showed milder dysraphic changes. These changes suggest a multisegmental causal insult impairing the early embryonic notochord. This represents the first bovine case definitively confirmed morphologically.

Background: Previous research on spinal alignment and postoperative outcomes after cervical and upper thoracic fixation has suggested that clinical and patient-reported outcomes are improved when certain anatomical parameters are maintained. These parameters include the cervical sagittal vertical axis (cSVA), C2 and T1 slopes, and cervical lordosis (CL). For patients with primary and metastatic tumors involving the subaxial cervical and/or upper thoracic spine, there is minimal guidance on how to apply these parameters.

After corrective surgery for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS), patients can return to sports activities without restrictions. While there have been many reports of long-term disc degeneration between adjacent segments after posterior corrective fusion, the effects of sports activities on adjacent segments after corrective fusion surgery are not well understood. Particularly, cases of acquired spondylolysis after long fusion surgeries for scoliosis are rare.

Objectives: Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound imaging can overcome the limitations of conventional two-dimensional (2D) ultrasound imaging in structural observation and measurement. However, conducting volumetric ultrasound imaging for large-sized organs still faces difficulties including long acquisition time, inevitable patient movement, and 3D feature recognition. In this study, we proposed a real-time volumetric free-hand ultrasound imaging system optimized for the above issues and applied it to the clinical diagnosis of scoliosis.

Objective: Risk factors for noncontiguous spinal fractures (NSFs), which are important for early, timely diagnoses and treatments of elderly individuals with traumatic spinal fractures, have not been discussed in depth. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the risk factors for noncontiguous spinal fractures (NSFs).
Methods: The records of 1,415 elderly patients (aged 60 years and over) who presented with TSFs between 2013 and 2019 were retrospectively reviewed.

Background: Awareness of the characteristics of glial fibrillary acidic protein autoantibody (GFAP-IgG) associated myelitis facilitates early diagnosis and treatment. We explored features in GFAP-IgG myelitis and compared them with those in myelitis associated with aquaporin-4 IgG (AQP4-IgG) and myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein IgG (MOG-IgG).
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data from patients with GFAP-IgG myelitis at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and Henan Children's Hospital from May 2018 to May 2023.
