A gas-tight and ductile solid/liquid δ-BiO-0.2 wt% BO electrolyte for molten oxide fuel cells (MOFCs) is developed. The MOFCs are a new class of intermediate temperature fuel cells. The composite, consisting of solid (δ-BiO) and liquid (molten BiO + BO) oxygen ion-conducting phases, demonstrates the promising application as an MOFC electrolyte with the highest oxygen ionic conductivity.
