20% acute pancreatitis (AP) develops into severe AP (SAP), a global health crisis, with an increased mortality rate to 30%-50%. Mitochondrial damage and immune disorders are direct factors, which exacerbate the occurrence and progression of AP. So far, mitochondrial and immunity injury in SAP remains largely elusive, with no established treatment options available.

Case: In this article, we present 2 cases of neglected patellar tendon rupture. One was treated using an Achilles tendon allograft, and the other with a patellar tendon-bone allograft. Both methods allowed for early range of motion and resulted in good functional outcomes with a 1-year follow-up period.

Background: Aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase (AADC) deficiency is a rare life-threatening inborn error of neurotransmitter biosynthesis. It is characterized by deficient biosynthesis of neurotransmitters dopamine and serotonin, leading to catecholamines deficiency and sympathetic deprivation, while the parasympathetic system remains functional. Since 2012, gene therapy has led to clinical improvements in symptoms and motor function with a severe phenotype.

Background: In 1962, the idea emerged that medical students' tolerance of uncertainty could determine their specialty choice. While some studies supported this claim, others refuted it, often using independently developed instruments. We explored whether the reported link between specialty choice and uncertainty tolerance is more myth than evidence by employing established instruments to investigate whether specialty choice could be explained by variance in uncertainty tolerance.
