This paper proposes an absolute phase retrieval method for complex object measurement based on quantized phase-coding and connected region labeling. A specific code sequence is embedded into quantized phase of three coded fringes. Connected regions of different codes are labeled and assigned with 3-digit-codes combining the current period and its neighbors. Wrapped phase, more than 36 periods, can be restored with reference to the code sequence. Experimental results verify the capability of the proposed method to measure multiple isolated objects.

Electrons in topological flat bands can form new topological states driven by correlation effects. The pentalayer rhombohedral graphene/hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) moiré superlattice was shown to host fractional quantum anomalous Hall effect (FQAHE) at approximately 400 mK (ref. ), triggering discussions around the underlying mechanism and role of moiré effects.

Odontocetes are capable of dynamically changing their echolocation clicks to efficiently detect targets, and learning their clicking strategy can facilitate the design of man-made detecting signals. In this study, we developed deep convolutional generative adversarial networks guided by an acoustic feature vector (AF-DCGANs) to synthesize narrowband clicks of the finless porpoise (Neophocaena phocaenoides sunameri) and broadband clicks of the bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus). The average short-time objective intelligibility (STOI), spectral correlation coefficient (Spe-CORR), waveform correlation coefficient (Wave-CORR), and dynamic time warping distance (DTW-Distance) of the synthetic clicks were 0.

Real multi-bandgap systems have non-abelian topological charges, with Euler semimetals being a prominent example characterized by real triple degeneracies (RTDs) in momentum space. These RTDs serve as "Weyl points" for real topological phases. Despite theoretical interest, experimental observations of RTDs have been lacking, and studies mainly focus on individual RTDs.

Axions, hypothetical elementary particles that remain undetectable in nature, can arise as quasiparticles in three-dimensional crystals known as axion insulators. Previous implementations of axion insulators have largely been limited to two-dimensional systems, leaving their topological properties in three dimensions unexplored in experiment. Here, we realize an axion insulator in a three-dimensional photonic crystal and probe its topological properties.

Intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) are valuable tools for enhancing the intelligence of the propagation environment. They have the ability to direct EM Waves to a specific user through beamforming. A significant number of passive elements are integrated into metasurfaces, allowing for their incorporation onto various surfaces such as walls and buildings.
